Decent food but not impressive, the staff does their job but doesn't create a typical Italian atmosphere. You can eat here if you have no other option but it's not a place you would intentionally choose

Our first night in Bologna and the food couldn’t of been more amazing! The ambience was lovely and our server was great! We would definitely come back if ever in Bologna again!

Very pleasant experience. The outdoor seating area is nicer later on as less road traffic and bus stop users. Inside has an authentic rustic feel and frequented by locals which is a good sign. Fork discount missed off original bill but quickly corrected when pointed out. Food flavoursome and drinks sensibly priced.

First, the waiter was ok. We arrived early. He was not interested in our having a reservation. The printed menu did NOT show the fried bread which was served to another table even though I asked him for it. The pasta dish was supposed to have prosciutto and asparagus, but only came with the prosciutto. The mixed salad was supposed to come with tomatoes but didn’t. I asked for them and he brought some out. The pasta portion was huge and could easily have served 2. The roast beef was excellent and also a substantial portion—probably the best roast beef we’ve ever eaten. Our biggest complaint was asking for the 30 % discount. The cashier refused to give it to us. Our bill was 48 Euros of which 5 was for wine and 6 for sparkling water. The location was on the outskirts of Centro Historico so it did not seem touristy. Looking at the Italians, they seemed to be ordering from a different menu.

Buca San Francescogood evening Mrs Juliana Rodas the service is not rude and local and first of all we are kind and calm with people who are not local and not annoyed because it is not our job to be annoyed and rude... we hope to see you again and the opium and not change will be right

Everything was delicious - tortellini en brodo was especially flavorful but I think our favorite was the pig knuckle! Unfortunately, we forgot to get a picture until it was cut into - but it was fantastic!

Lunch in Bologna. I thought that the food was great especially the tagliatelle with ragu sauce. The waiters offered a friendly and quick service.

Enjoyable dinner. Service was excellent as was the food quality. We had Bologna meat and cheese to start, followed by pasta dishes. The pasta was particularly good - very fresh and great quality especially the sausage and the asparagus with Parma ham. Puddings were also great.

It was a Tuesday and the restaurant was Empty - we were the only table. 7:30pm and when we left at 8:30 - no other table was occupied. Crumbled and stained paper menu (not because it changes daily). food was average at best. The spritz my wife had was the worst on our 18 day trip through Italy. Overall a very uncomfortable and not so great experience.

The food was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the lasagna, steak, bolognese, and tortellini. The panne cotta dessert was perfect!

The service is the best part of the meal-the waiter is super attentive and helped us split all our food, which we didn’t ask for. The table is a little too small, cannot have more than two plates on so that’s slightly annoying but they made it work by pacing the speed of dishes. Steak is slightly bland but they gave us salt and pepper, Ravi pasta is flavorful!

This place is very noisy but it was a Friday night! The appetisers were delicious but both our pastas were underwhelming. Our dessert was ok. The waiters were kind and welcoming.

I came here with my girlfriend before heading back home from a visit to Bologna based on the excellent reviews I've read. The quality of food the extreme courtesy the waiters and their helpfulness in explaining the dishes were extraordinary. We both had a wonderful time dining here and I fully recommend the Buca di San Francesco and it's genuine atmosphere to everyone who wants to taste Bologna's tasty cuisine.

Quiet location only 7 minutes walk from the centre and worth the walk. Great local Bolognaise cuisine served by a lovely waitress. We shared a delicious Antipasti of Tortini di Zucha and had Pasta as our main course, both delicious. I indulged in a Chocolate cake as light and rich as you can imagine served with Mascapone. We each had a glass of red wine and shared a bottle of San Pelligrino.

50% food discount brought us here. But well worth visiting. Very good mixed meat platter starter, lovely tortellini in broth secundo, one portion split into two bowls was very thoughtful. Then one big veal cutlet Bolognese between us was very good to. Nice local wine. Helpful staff. All good.

Food amazing, service very good, the place was hot like hell, needs 3 more air-conditions, they keep their wines in hot temperature same as the temperature of the restaurant where we were really sweating our asses. It is a shame because overall very very good.

Very nice restaurant in a cool (both vintage interior and temperature) cellar. We had good food with a 50% discount. Sparkling wine. The pasta and tiramisu are delicious!
