10/10Beautiful building and interior décor in a fantastic location over looking the Royal Palace. We were lucky enough to get one of three private areas which were very special and splendid. Food and service first class, it became the highlight of our stay in Madrid. Taking all the above into account the prices were reasonable. Highly recommended.

10/10I was shocked when I checked my records and realized it was 10 years since I'd last eaten here. It's a delightfully ornate room in a premier area of Madrid, so the the food would only have to pass muster, but in fact was excellent. Top class ham with a simple but amazing tomato puree and toasted bread - heaven. By the numbers sliced steak with salt, another Spanish classic. The house Rioja by the glass was impeccable. And not too expensive a bill at the end. I must re-visit in a lot less than another 10 years!

10/10+2The diner Tapas Menu was delicious and plentiful! We were very pleasantly surprised! Excellent ambiance! We sat outside and admired the Palacio Real and lovely plaza by the Opera, as well. Not noisy, which is a plus anywhere when you are dining outdoors. Inside the restaurant, where I have been on other occasions is a lovely old world ambiance. Great friendly service, as well. I highly recommend it!

6/10We travel often where there is a language barrier. Most everyone has always been friendly and made their best effort to communicate effectively. Not here. They had zero patience with us. Since we had the language barrier, we pointed to each item on the menu we requested..they repeatedly brought us the wrong items. When we told them, they were rude and reluctantly accommodated our our requests. The greeter was very pleasant and the location was amazing. I would not recommend this restaurant.

7/10Food and location were great although they were let down by extremely poor service for this price range. We waited 15 minutes to see the menu while the waiter clearly ignored us. Food arrived reasonably quickly but we didn’t see the wine until half way through our meal at which point I complained to the waiter. He poured the wine without a word and brought the bread which was meant to be served before the main course. No apologies from anyone, I recommend saving money and eating elsewhere in hopes of a better service.

9.5/10Lovely location opposite the palace so perfect end to our tour . Worried it might be a tourist trap but really nice meal at a fair price and drinks very reasonable too. Would go again .

6.5/10Sorry but not worth the price you pay for the food and service. They do not have the wine they offer, food is COLD and if you have to visit the toilets….prepare for a bad experience

10/10We ate in the King’s room and were truly treated like kings. The food was great. We had the tasting menu and every detail made each dish great. Highly recommend.

7/10They are slow, they just do not have enough staff. Had to leave without finishing our dinner because it was already very late. We started at 20:00. and at 23:00 we were still awaiting for our dessert, that we booked & paid but never had.

2/10Awful experience. We arrived 5 minutes before the booking: 8:30pm and were ask to wait for 5 minutes before being placed. 25 minutes after, still waiting. We were offered (not free of course), a drink to wait without knowing why we add to wait. The waiter told us that we booked for the terrasse which was not the case (you cannot specify such thing with thefork and went to this restaurant to go in the room downstairs which looked wonderful on pictures). We refused to go outside and asked to eat in the main area / the bar which they accepted but had to wait another 25 minutes for them to prepare the table (2 glasses and some cutlery). We booked with the offer : special menu at 25 euros on thefork which contained aperitivo and some special item. They had never heard of that menu apparently. When I told them to ask internally (because there is obviously someone who manages the relationship with thefork) they told me they did not know and someone "from the internet" probably posted the menu on thefork... Sense: 0.

9.5/10Elegantly decorated basement room. The acorn fed ham was expensive, it always is, but top quality and well served with bread and a tomato relish. The hake with potatoes & peppers was simple but excellent and the “Oriente” dessert, a gooey caramel concoction, was fantastic. House Rioja was good value and, though red, went just fine with the fish as well as the ham. Does not have the outdoor views of the other parts of the Oriente, but the underground setting is cooler on a hot Madrid evening. Friendly, unobtrusive service.

6/10The menu was misleading in both Spanish and English. My daughter had a starter that supposedly was based on apples, which turned out to be potatoes, which she cannot eat. She sent it back and instead she chose ham and other things, 'en cocotte', which means a little porcelain dish, so we imagined a delicate starter. Instead there were huge fatty lumps of pork belly, with vegetables on cocktail sticks on top of each. Her main fish course was supposed to have sea-urchins in it (wrongly translated as hedgehogs on the menu) but did not have one. My goat's cheese starter and moules main course were OK , but it was a very disappointing meal for her. I think the menu and what the chef provides need to be completely re-aligned, so they are the same as one another.
