10/10I have been to the Cantina di Biffi many times over the past 20 years and it never disappoints. The food is really good and quiet different from most of local restaurants. The waiters and very friendly and helpful (especially Sam and Marco) and can speak very good English. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Sulmona.

+2Our server Samuel was very personable a tentative and entertaining. We had to be cut but your starter and which was.The lamb gigot was tender and flavorful, Carpaccio Di Cervo Con Carciofin was excellent . I Fois Gras steaks and quails breast we outstanding —.. Easily one of the best meals we had in Italy on this trip !

+3Amazing first meal in Sulmona! Abruzzo wines are outstanding — smooth, full-bodied reds that totally won us over. Every meat dish was perfectly cooked: the lamb gigot was tender and flavorful, the rolled lamb had zero gaminess, and the green peppercorn beef steak was juicy and well-balanced. We also loved the regional Chitarra pasta — springy texture with bright tomato sauce and fresh cheese on top. So simple, so delicious. Great food, warm service, and excellent prices. Easily one of the best meals we had in Italy!

Only booked this yesterday as we had not booked a restaurant in Sulmona in advance of our Italian road trip. We both said this was our favourite meal and the best restaurant of the whole two week trip. We have eaten in some incredible places on this road trip but this in our opinion was our favourite. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Sulmona.

10/10This is the third time we have dined at Cantina di Biffi. We’ve had wonderful service each time—very attentive. Two of us dined with 7:30 reservations, we were seated immediately. We had a nice conversation with the waiter who seated us, he remembered us from our visits in December, and we chatted a bit about the local food scene. Loved the foie gras appetizer! We each tried a different pasta, and then split the Veal secondo piatto. Very fresh and flavorful, the pasta was perfectly al dente without being chewy or gummy as in many restaurants. There was an impressive wine list. We absolutely loved the veal dish, and it was a very sizable portion with a dreamy green peppercorn sauce. All in all, a fantastic experience! We will continue to rave about this restaurant.

6/10I am not sure these other reviewers ate at the same restaurant that I ate at last night. While the ambiance was nice and the service was fine, maybe they change the menu from time to time? And that was why there was seriously nothing appetizing at all in that menu but others liked it in the past? Come on! It was so pretentious…I travel in Italy to eat the delicious food and there wasn’t one delicious sounding item in the menu. Caviar, pate, rabbit? We finally tried the cheese plate which was gross…in this land of great cheeses, we got this board with moldy, stinking I-don’t-know-what cheese… inedible. Thankfully she didn’t charge us for that one. We were able to eat a bit of the first and the second, which were so-so, but $50 later, we left hungry. I get these folks are trying to do something different, something new perhaps in a place where there is alot of the same, but as a visitor to the country, to Sulmona…don’t waste your money or your limited dining opportunities here.

5/10Very unfriendly service from the time we arrived. Assuming it’s because we were tourists or had our young son with us but very unwelcoming. Never asked if food/everything was ok. Tried to pass off a cheaper wine than ordered but I caught the discrepancy. Food had some issues but since they never checked in and couldn’t be bothered with us ( and we were the only table there for the first 45 minutes) we couldn’t bring it up. I usually only like to write positive reviews but wanted to warn tourists/ families with a young child to go elsewhere.

10/10This Italian restaurant is right in the middle of an old medieval town and feels like stepping back in time with its authentic early 20th-century vibe. The food is fantastic, served beautifully, and the prices are pretty good too. They don’t have a lot of wines, but the local dry red we tried was amazing. Loved the desserts, and the waiters were super helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town and want to enjoy some real Italian cooking in a cool, historic spot.

10/10This was truly a dining experience.our waiter Sam , guided us through the whole menu, helped us with our choices,and paired the wine for each of us. His knowledge , humor and an incredible dinning room made this such an enjoyable evening. Book your table now,for the next time you're in Sulmona,this gem of a restaurant will not let you down .

7.5/10This restaurant used to be very highly regarded in my view and served seasonal, quality food. I think it has different owners since our last visit 2/3yrs ago and although the atmosphere and wine is still very good, sadly the food is not what it was. Starters of prawn terrine and salmon with squid ink were nice and well presented though the texture of the prawn seemed under cooked and smily. I had high expectations of the mains, sadly some very average lamb Ragu pasta and bacon topped gnochi followed, then the secondi choices were limited, vegetables or fish don’t seem to exist here. Mozerlla melted with ham was stodgy and although the veal steak was well cooked it wasn’t the best cut and at 24 euros it just didn’t wow. Desert lemon mouse again pretty average.

8.5/10Cantina di Biffi is one of our favorite restaurants in Sulmona. Gianluca, the new owner, has upped the ante on atmosphere and style, and the kitchen is always competent. No wine list because they have over 150 wines in the cantina; knowledgeable waitstaff choose the wine for you, based on your order. Go back again and again!
