10/10Dining at Capitano Del Popolo in Orvieto was an exceptional experience! The warm, welcoming atmosphere perfectly complemented the outstanding food. Every dish was beautifully prepared, showcasing fresh, local ingredients and the rich culinary traditions of the region. The homemade pasta and the perfectly cooked meats were highlights, while the desserts were simply divine. The wine selection was thoughtfully curated, enhancing the meal with excellent pairings. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch that made us feel right at home. Capitano Del Popolo is a must-visit for anyone in Orvieto seeking an unforgettable dining experience!

10/10The dishes here are just a little bit different from other places in Orvieto. And, that is a good thing. We always try to visit this restaurant when in Orvieto. It is consistently excellent. The dining rooms are attractive, as is their patio. I enjoyed my stuffed rabbit, and the baked chicken with vegetable also excellent. Good, varied winelist. And don't forget the amaro!

3.5/10Although the food was tasty…. If a little bit heavy on salt it was only luke warm ( both mains) with the side of roasted veg being cold…..ugh . We didn’t bother with dessert or coffee as the staff didn’t seem bothered

10/10We live in Italy and have enjoyed many a memorable meal here. But, after a while, one tires of the same old menu items. Capitano offered many variations on the traditional choices, for example, a sumptuous ravioli dish with datterini tomatoes and just a touch of cinnamon. Service was informed, unobtrusive, and fun. And the restaurant has a modern vibe we appreciated. We’ll be back for sure!

10/10We had a wonderful experience. The 3 women who run this place really care about the food they produce. We had the eggplant caponata, risotto and ravioli. Highly recommended!

10/10This place is truly outstanding. The brilliantly seasoned steak was perfectly prepared with seared crispy outside and tender center, the rabbit melted in the mouth, and the carbonara was heaven on earth. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and engaged with their guests. It is a top restaurant in Orvieto and the region. Highly recommend!

10/10Initially a most welcoming and unpretentious arrival. I only had two courses a beetroot and pecorino flan and a rolled and filled rabbit. Both were excellent. However, there was something else here that I discerned. Firstly, a commitment to technique. But this was not technique for its own sake, or technique committed to embellishment and vanity. No, this was something more thoughtful and subtle. A commitment to balance via the elements of arrangement, colour, taste and texture. A thoughtful balance of the whole, and not that blandness of balance where each sensation is equal. All of which points to a sensibility and a commitment to consider the tastebuds of patrons. A sensibility of thought, as well as intentional modesty, and a desire to communicate, to care, to enlighten and indeed to repair the horrors many of us face when we eat almost anywhere else in this world. This is a truly great restaurant and one of Umbria’s finest.

10/10Captain Del Popolo is simply wonderful. All of the dishes we have had there have been super, and there is more variety than most restaurants in Orvieto. The wine list is very good at a variety of prices. We try to get to beautiful Orvieto on all of our trips to Italy, and we try to dine at Capitano Del Popolo every time. Highly recommended.

9.5/10Valentina's place is welcoming and serves very good food. the dishes are a step up with interesting variations on traditional dishes. For instance, I had a ravioli with Amatriciana sauce inside the pasta, which is a nice switch. The beet flan was pretty and delicious. and my beef cheek stew was melt in your mouth tender and full of flavor. The prices a bit higher than usual, but you can taste the difference. Definitely worth it. We will be back soon.

10/10Delicious food and great service as always, but an added touch of excellent this time. We had our two nieces visiting who both have celiac disease, and not only does Capitano del Popolo have gluten-free options, but they offer the entire menu, including the spaghetti carbonara, gluten free upon request. 10/10This was our third visit to Capitano Del Popolo in the past few years. There are many restaurants in Orvieto that serve great food that is typical of Umbria, and what sets this restaurant apart is that their menu seems more creative while still using local ingredients. The staff is always great, and the dining rooms very comfortable. We will happily dine here on future visits to Orvieto.

10/10Delicious meal from the amuse-bouche to dessert. Great wine, lovely atmosphere. Classics like carbonara and inventive dishes like fried rabbit with spinach and curry sauce. Highly recommend it.

10/10Capitano del Popolo is by far the most cosy restaurant in the Piazza del Popolo, due to its spacious terrace and special lighting. The prices are a bit higher here, and the result is that the crowds are gathering in other restaurants nearby, whereas the Capitano remains more quiet. The quality of the dishes, both content and presentation, is far above average. On top of that, this restaurant has an extensive wine selection! This was definitely one of our better experiences in Orvieto!
