The dishes here are just a little bit different from other places in Orvieto. And, that is a good thing. We always try to visit this restaurant when in Orvieto. It is consistently excellent. The dining rooms are attractive, as is their patio. I enjoyed my stuffed rabbit, and the baked chicken with vegetable also excellent. Good, varied winelist. And don't forget the amaro!

Although the food was tasty…. If a little bit heavy on salt it was only luke warm ( both mains) with the side of roasted veg being cold…..ugh . We didn’t bother with dessert or coffee as the staff didn’t seem bothered

We live in Italy and have enjoyed many a memorable meal here. But, after a while, one tires of the same old menu items. Capitano offered many variations on the traditional choices, for example, a sumptuous ravioli dish with datterini tomatoes and just a touch of cinnamon. Service was informed, unobtrusive, and fun. And the restaurant has a modern vibe we appreciated. We’ll be back for sure!

This place is truly outstanding. The brilliantly seasoned steak was perfectly prepared with seared crispy outside and tender center, the rabbit melted in the mouth, and the carbonara was heaven on earth. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and engaged with their guests. It is a top restaurant in Orvieto and the region. Highly recommend!

Initially a most welcoming and unpretentious arrival. I only had two courses a beetroot and pecorino flan and a rolled and filled rabbit. Both were excellent. However, there was something else here that I discerned. Firstly, a commitment to technique. But this was not technique for its own sake, or technique committed to embellishment and vanity. No, this was something more thoughtful and subtle. A commitment to balance via the elements of arrangement, colour, taste and texture. A thoughtful balance of the whole, and not that blandness of balance where each sensation is equal. All of which points to a sensibility and a commitment to consider the tastebuds of patrons. A sensibility of thought, as well as intentional modesty, and a desire to communicate, to care, to enlighten and indeed to repair the horrors many of us face when we eat almost anywhere else in this world. This is a truly great restaurant and one of Umbria’s finest.
