From the moment we entered the level of service was fabulous. They clearly love what they do and their enthusiasm for good food and wine is infectious. We had a taster menu that showed off the best the restaurant. The dishes mix traditional and modern and use local ingredients like mountain asparagus, lamb from the village and mushrooms as well as fresh Valencian sea food. We had a variation on “calçots” using aubergines instead of green onions, red mullet fillets with prawns and a semi picante sauce, an incredible “cordero lechal” , young tender lamb, a cheese plate with something from Spain, Italy, France and England. Every dish a delight! The owner also introduced this confirmed Hispanophile to some new drinks! 9 year matured Manzilla, vino rancio ( wine that had been made to deliberately go “off”. )
The wine list is stunning featuring wine from every wine producing area in Spain with something to suit all taste and pockets.
A memorable meal! We will return.

After visiting marvelous Bocairent, we were looking for a nice place to have lunch and we found casa el tio David in Alfara.
We loved the quality and presentation of the food as well as the perfect wine recommendation.
