8/10We dined at Ciro 1939 today and overall had a pleasant and good experience. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, making it a nice place to spend the evening. The food was generally very enjoyable and well presented. However, not everything was entirely up to par a few of the dishes were slightly too salty for our taste, which is why I would rate the experience four out of five rather than a full five. The service was friendly and welcoming but there were a few really small issues. Some items we ordered were forgotten and the service was at times a bit slower than expected. Additionally, the music was a bit too loud but we are older so that could be because of us. That being said, aside from these minor points, everything else was good. With a bit more attention to seasoning, pacing, and volume, this restaurant could easily provide a top tier dining experience.

10/10The pasta de parmigiana in the wheel of cheese was both delicious and very fun to watch. All the food was very good, and the service was excellent.

10/10Coming back to CIRO 1939 is no longer about going out to eat. It feels like finding comfort in the middle of a chaotic city like Amsterdam. There’s an immediate sense of familiarity that lets you relax and fully enjoy the experience. I’ve been to many restaurants with great food, beautiful ambience, and kind people. Some places do one or two of those well. CIRO somehow brings all of them together, consistently, and elevates the experience every single time. I’ve been here more times than I can count over the past few months. The food is always excellent. The ambience is warm and inviting. The people make you feel genuinely welcome. But what truly sets CIRO apart is its spirit. You don’t just leave satisfied. You leave carrying something with you. At this point, getting any kind of discount here almost feels illegal. That’s how CIRO makes you feel. Like you’re already getting more than you should. You don’t come back chasing a dish. You come back because it feels like home.

10/10Immediate feeling of welcome. Then followed by superb food and wine. We arrived on Eurostar from London and needed a good meal. All recommendations from the fork and other socials suggested here. It’s great when the gamble pays off and you hit gold. 10/10 for everything.

9.5/10The staff went out of their way to welcome us and give us a lovely evening as it was our 40th Ruby wedding anniversary! Original and very tasty pasta dishes. Warm atmosphere. Definitely worth the taxi ride getting there. Thoroughly recommended

10/10CIRO 1939 is starting to feel less like a restaurant and more like coming home. It has that warm energy where even if you’re surrounded by strangers, the vibe still feels familiar. This visit we switched it up. The bruschetta salmone was well made and tasty, but it won’t be a personal favorite. I know myself. I’ll always go back to my usual suspects. The real star was the tuna carpaccio. I did not expect it to be that good. Light, refreshing, and full of flavor. I would order it over and over again. If you’re into seafood, carpaccio, or just good food, get it. Next on my list is the salmon carpaccio. The rigatoni is still undefeated. Third time eating it and I want to walk into the kitchen and ask how they make it. A must-order. Now the pizza. The aroma alone. I’m not a pizza eater usually one bite and I’m done. But this one had a crust and flavors that reminded me of Milan. I finished two full slices, and that says everything. CIRO 1939 keeps delivering. It feels like family. Yep.

10/10We booked CIRO 1939 on a whim. Last-minute, no expectations, and we live far from the place, so it could’ve been one of those “why did we do this” moments. But that 9.6 rating kept pulling me in. The moment we walked in, I understood. CIRO 1939 feels like a doorway to Italy. Warm, cozy, atmospheric. The lighting, the smell, the energy, everything lands. And then Babiche welcomed us with effortless charm. Very Dutch, very friendly, and somehow perfectly aligned with the vibe. She made us feel seen in the best way. Then the food arrived, and CIRO 1939 really showed off. The pasta Bolognese was perfectly al dente with a rich, comforting sauce that tasted like someone’s nonna made it. The pizza was crisp, flavorful, and easily competing with the best I’ve had. The carpaccio was fresh and real, not frozen or processed, just clean and intentionally made. By the end, that 9.6 rating made perfect sense. I’d go back without hesitation. And yes, I’m recommending it already.
