We were running late but the hotel called ahead and El Chigre 1769 honoured our booking. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. they recommended great dishes. We also tried the house vermouth. The atmosphere was vibrant and it was noted that people kept trying to enquire if there were tables free. I strongly recommend booking.

10/10My second time at the restraint lovely food and ambience to go with it and through in Priorat wine is perfect. We had Turbot fresh and cooked to perfection. Love the Russian salad and signature octopus. Good specials board .....if I lived in Barcelona would visit very often.

10/10Service was great, even though we were a party of 5 and only one person ordered alcoholic drinks. They were really great at suggesting us what is fresh and what are their popular dishes. We had a great time. Especially enjoyed their grilled octopus, black rice plate, and grilled whole fish. Keep in mind the bill is higher than usual.

4th visit in the the past few year - best restaurant in Barcelona exceptional food and always a buzzy atmosphere whatever time of year you visit. Always book my flights and then book El Chigre wouldn’t be a Barcelona trip without it!

Great food in a cozy ambience. The Josper grill does the magic! Entrecôte superb! Thanks also to the cow, she gave a supreme piece of meat! In a sea of mediocracy, a great place to spend the evening!

5.5/10Seating is so so. If you want a great meal you don’t want to be uncomfortable in a high top chair and in a tight situation. Food was OK. Sardines were cooked but not great. Eggplant was OK. A little mushy and not a great seasoning. They rest there laurels on ‘History’ and not great cooking! Would not go back. Too many other great restaurants in El Born and Barcelona as a whole!

2/10The place is a Fake, Asturian recipes, no even close, taste less, Fabada wasn’t a big deal. Cider Chorizos, a joke ! Please do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. They call themselves a restaurant., well just a Bar with 4 tables with high chairs. Too expensive for what you are getting.

10/10This was my second visit to this tiny little restaurant in the historic city center. I was here five years ago during my last visit to Barcelona from the USA. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They even have good vegetarian dishes which was pretty unusual. The drinks are incredible. It's a very informal type of atmosphere with very few tables as such and really Sitting in a communal setting rubbing shoulders with other locals and tourists who know about this place. The only negative I have on this restaurant is that they want you to order all your food at one time which makes it challenging. I think it will be better to allow people to order food in batches just like we can add additional drinks and food to the initial order. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and of course the food.
