I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal in a new restaurant as much as I did at Frade Dos Mares. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, every dish was delicious from the garlic prawns to the octopus to the bacalhau. An amazing experience that I will definitely hope to replicate the next time I am in Lisbon.

We made reservations almost a month before because the restaurant is always full. We arrived and got the worst table (directly next to the door) and it was very cold and drafty at our table. A minute later a couple that had no reservations came in and got a much better table, I was perplexed at this. Then the waiter asked us where we were from and greeted us in our own language. That was nice/funny the first two-three times, but after 10x it became rather annoying. The food was excellent though, just a bit unfortunate that I could not really enjoy it because of the constant cold draft inside.

Rubi was an amazing server—super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience great. The gazpacho was so refreshing and flavorful, and the shrimp appetizer was delicious. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

Rubi was a fantastic server. Started the night making us feel extremely comfortable, chatted and provided outstanding recommendations. We also saw him speaking in other languages to each guest he served dependent on their first language. I was so impressed and could not say more about how great the food was, ambiance and our server.
