This was our second time dining at Frade Dos Mares and a perfect choice for our final night in Lisbon. The fried prawns were AMAZING!!!!! 10/10. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. The octopus croquettes were tasty. We ended the night with cheesecake. Ruby is delightful and the other staff made this a wonderful experience.

Beautiful dishes from start to finish - fresh, tasty, can’t fault anything. Waiters are so attentive and pleasant. One of them patiently corrected my poor Portuguese. Definitely recommend this for anyone who visit Lisboa. Muitas obrigadas!

The fastest serving we have ever experienced and all the dishes were great. Very attentive staff and we were very impressed by the whole logistic setup of the restaurant from we came to when we left and were treated like longtime regular customer. All the staff was very professional from the head servant to the new one - Ewerton which did a really good job and we were surprised he had just started. We visited many great restaurants during our stay and Frade Dos Mares was where we got the best experience for the amount we paid.

Wonderful experience, food and service were excellent. All dishes were well prepared and delicious. Recommend the Octopus or Prawn salads ad a starter. We had grilled Bream and vegetables, very good.

The ambiance in the restaurant is very nice, calm and a nice pace for dinner. The drinks were great but the food it what stood out. The fish was excellent (Bass and Shrimp), well cooked and almost no bones in the bass which was amazing. A good portion but not too much, side vegetables also excellent. We also had the tuna tartare which was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant

The main downside was the food – every dish seemed overloaded with garlic, which overwhelmed the flavors and wasn’t to my taste. A lighter hand with seasoning would make a big difference.

This was by far the best octopus I have ever eaten …. So tender and flavorful ! There were 4 people in our party so we decided to order the octopus entree as our starter to share ….. it was absolutely delicious ….. and we’ve eaten alot of octopus on our 6 week trip to the Greek islands , Spain and now Lisbon !!!! Entrees ordered were the prawns risotto which was also quite delicious and creamy with lots of chunks of prawns …… the codfish entree was delicious with garlic broccolini and potatoes, and the sirloin steak was tender and flavorful . Don’t miss out on the real lemon meringue pie …. Tart and delicious !!!!So glad I reserved this restaurant ahead of our trip as they were turning people away all night ! Great service by Wiki…. He was attentive and quite comical !!!! Love the place !

Our last visit to Lisbon and Frade dos Mares was in 2019 when we had we had a wonderful meal and service at frade dos mares. We returned today after six years and were surprised the meal and service exceeded our previous experience. The host, I'm sorry to not know his name, was welcoming and very gracious. Our server, RUBI, was fantastic. The wine she suggested complemented our meal perfectly. We started with the prawns/shrimp frade dos mare. We were so glad to have ordered the bread because when we finished the prawns, which were delicious, we finished the starter by dipping the bread in the sauce. FANTASTIC! Next was our entree. We chose the grilled fish of the day, which was sea bass. It came with small potatoes and grilled vegetables. All were perfectly prepared and delicious and quite a large feast. My wife never finishes an entree. The best compliment I can leave regarding our experience at Frade Dos Mare is that my wife FINISHED EVERYTHING and left very pleased and full!

I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal in a new restaurant as much as I did at Frade Dos Mares. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, every dish was delicious from the garlic prawns to the octopus to the bacalhau. An amazing experience that I will definitely hope to replicate the next time I am in Lisbon.

We made reservations almost a month before because the restaurant is always full. We arrived and got the worst table (directly next to the door) and it was very cold and drafty at our table. A minute later a couple that had no reservations came in and got a much better table, I was perplexed at this. Then the waiter asked us where we were from and greeted us in our own language. That was nice/funny the first two-three times, but after 10x it became rather annoying. The food was excellent though, just a bit unfortunate that I could not really enjoy it because of the constant cold draft inside.
