Gagini is a modern and high quality take on a traditional Italian meal priced so that you get value for money. The wine pairing match the food and we recommend it

I enjoyed being in this restaurant. I felt care, cosiness, joy. The ambience is amazing: soft jazz, ancient walls, stylish furniture. The food was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by creative combinations of tastes. Unfortunately I couldn't check out the pairing this time, but I'm sure it is as exquisite as the food itself. I will definitely come back.

Impeccable and attentive service at every level coupled with beautifully presented, delicious food of the highest quality. A meal and an experience to remember.

We truly appreciate your kind words and are thrilled to know that both our service and cuisine made such a positive impression. It’s wonderful to hear that your visit was memorable, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon!

The service was atrocious. We waited for a long while and we were ignored while the service staff pandered to a table of loud Americans. Perhaps this is just a racial bias? If so, then anyone white would love this place.

    Gagini

Dear Madam, our company has always been inclusive so we cannot accept the slightest accusation of racism. our restaurant manager tried to be kind to you by also granting you a discount since you didn't consume the last two courses of the tasting menu. despite everything we will continue to be kind and treat everyone with attention, courtesy and kindness. Thank you and we wish you a wonderful day

Excellent service, delicious 7 course tasting menu.

A beautiful, atmospheric venue for fine dining. The food showcased the best seasonal ingredients, carefully and imaginatively presented. The service was professionally delivered by friendly and enthusiastic staff, until the end of our final course when there was an over emphasis by the team on clearing the room and preparing for closure. Pricing was reasonable and the mark up on wine was not overly painful. Worth a detour!

We had the 6 course tasting menu with paired wines. The whole experience was memorable - lovely building, friendly and informative service and unusual, mostly local Sicilian wines and food. Thoroughly recommended.

Gagini is rated a 1-star Michelin, and other reviews rave about it. We were truly anticipating the experience - a chef tasting of 9 courses. Our first surprise was how casual the place is. It looks a bit like a hip bistro. Servers in jeans and sneakers. They were polite if not truly attentive. The menu is very eclectic - maybe too much so. Instead of being delighted by each taste, including wine pairing, we were often taken aback by unpleasant flavors. Sheep tartare was a first for us - and a last. Same for milt (tuna sperm sac, which I know is considered a rare delicacy). The preparation with oyster foam was just overwhelming. We've dined in many Michelin rated venues - including 3-star. Gagini was disappointing especially for the premium price of this meal. We would not return or recommend.

Excellent food and service. Absolutely detest Italian restaurants only offering bottled water for a charge.

Fantastic place, and top of the notch service but food not up to the reputation of a Michelin star. We had the 8 dishes and only two were what you’d expect from a gourmet restaurant. No chef in sight, no info about the chef, and probably not even in the kitchen. The sequence of dishes didn’t tell a story and were quite disconnected apart. Different tables received different dishes although on the same tasting menu and there was no wine pairing. Not exactly what you’d expect for a 400 euros bill for two people.

Food was extremely disappointing, I am noting the tendency to receive Michelin stars just for the “unusualness” of the dishes as opposed to actually being tasty and pleasing. Nothing went well together in any of the dishes I’ve tried, everything tasted completely in standalone

The service was lovely and the ambiance was great arm. Unfortunately, the food was beyond disappointing. Out of 8 courses I think we enjoyed 2 of them. 3 were tolerable. 2 were not good. And one was absolutely abysmal. There were textures that were really unappealing, which can very much be subjective. But overall the dishes we did not enjoy were extremely flavourless or they were so overpowered by one note that, they seemed one dimensional. I found these plates devoid of complexity, depth, and integrity. There were dishes that attempted to build a big story in their presentation and flavour profile, but unfortunately they fell short (by a lot) in attaining the standard demanded by a Michelin star restaurant. And I was actually shocked to find out that this restaurant does still hold the Michelin star title and believe this should be reviewed. Priced as a Michelin star, but quality of something much less.

So many elements: art on the walls, people delivering human-centered service, low key, delicious and well presented culinary delights.

Wonderful food in a very relaxing ambiance. A place to repeat a lunch or dinner whenever visiting Palermo.

We took the menu Signature with 8 steps. Perfect quantities. Originality and taste were there. Nice wine advice.

The dishes were served rapidly one after another. The asparagus dish was special and nice, the spaghetti dish was like you can get in a standard low-level restaurant and the dessert was ok. The wine was superb. The personnel was attentive but not really nice. All over, absolutely not worth the money (€ 30 per dish) and not worth the michelin star.

From the amuse bouche, which consisted of 3 items that were almost inedible... one had seeds that couldn't be chewed... to the carpaccio that had 2 little clams atop the scoop with clam juice that smelled like sewage, to the raw prawns that were nothing to write home about, we have no idea how this is a 1 star Michelin restaurant. One of the pasta dishes was noodles with bland, watery tomato sauce thrown over it. The other was interesting. The desserts we ordered contained mango sorbet... one with blueberries, the other with goat cheese --- interesting, but nothing to tantalize anyone's taste buds. The hard bread came with no olive oil or butter. Two wines ordered from the wine list were unavailable, so they brought a third from the same vintner which we were told was equivalent. All in all, the portions were puny, service was slow, and the food was not good. At $300 for the two of us, we had better meals throughout the rest of Italy at 1/3 the price. I am a journalist who had planned on including this restaurant in my travel article on Sicily, but have decided to omit it entirely, as I am not the restaurant critic, so will leave bad reviews to him. I do, however, know unacceptable food, and have no idea how Michelin deemed this particular restaurant worthy of a star. Baffling!

Disappointing for a michellin star in sicily. Did a la carte menu. Very overpriced, specially starters. Most plates sounded unoriginal. It seemed to me like they are trying to feel Michellin, but did not feel special. I did not like my sheep ravioli at all. The amuse bouche had some odd flavors. Limited wine by glass, undisclosed on the menu. I ended skipping dessert. They should focus on impeccable service, add wines and drinks by the glass to the menu, and consider lowering their prices. My least impressive meal in 5 days in sicily.

I'd guess still slightly finding their feet, but food quality and combinations - that we chose - were excellent. Some of the ingredients/mixes maybe a bit too much? We didn't pick those. It meant we went a la carte rather than tasting menu, which was fine for us, no complaints there, but also means we didn't want to risk the tasting menu....probably not what the chef intended?

Lovely restaurant. We were privileged to be seated at the chefs table which made the experience all the better. The food was both different and delicious

The food was ok, but some very disappointing courses and service not really attentive enough to be deserving of its Michelin star. Wine was nice though, and the ambience is nice.

Exquisitely unique & flavoursome fine cuisine with local, fresh produce, worth the Michelin! Every element of a dish had a specific role to enhance the whole dish. Will remember this culinary experience in Palermo. Service was professional and friendly in a relaxed ambience. Would suggest expanding non-alcoholic beverage list to match the wine list.

Great space, decor. Service 9/10 but mostly 10. Food was disappointing. It wasn’t bad, and the quality of the ingredients appeared good, it was that the recipes were failures. Flavors didn’t complement each other or were drab and boring. The menu appeared exciting and innovative but the meals (we tried 6 things) were just not on point. We wonder if the regular chef had a substitute that evening.

We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing - some dishes more impressive than others; but an absolute A+ for the wine parings and the sommelier, it lifted the experience to the next level. Very pleasant staff in general.

To summarize, we were disappointed with the service. We were excited to try the tasting menu, but upon sitting down at the time of our reservation, the hostess informed us that the tasting menu was not available because our reservation was too late. We would have expected to be informed of such a constraint upon confirmation of our reservation and reservation time. Further, service throughout was quite cold, unattentive, and extremely slow.

High quality restaurant worthy of its Michelin star. Food was complex, creative and well presented. Service was excellent. Our only complain was that the air conditioning system was not up to the task, and we were a little warm for most of our meal.

Gagini was very nice, fresh, clean and well executed flavours. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu with wine paring, the sommelier was very knowledgeable and was confident with what he was telling us. Service was good and dishes were well thought out and the waiters went through each one very well. Only down side was 2 very small things, one was some of the glasses had water stains on them which to me personally isn’t too much of a big deal but as it is a one star the level should be flawless and another is i had to ask for the bill a few times but the staff were busy so. The bill came to €400 for two covers but was worth it as this was my girlfriends first Michelin star experience. Would definitely go again and highly recommend.

The first four courses were amazing. Excellent dishes, well timed. And then....everything stopped. For the last 2 courses, we waited 2 hours They just disappeared, abandoned us, and we felt held hostage.. For four courses, we thought this place was among the best we'd had. But then it stopped, and we were increasingly angry and frustrated. Would strongly not recommend.
