5/10The service was atrocious. We waited for a long while and we were ignored while the service staff pandered to a table of loud Americans. Perhaps this is just a racial bias? If so, then anyone white would love this place.

Dear Madam, our company has always been inclusive so we cannot accept the slightest accusation of racism. our restaurant manager tried to be kind to you by also granting you a discount since you didn't consume the last two courses of the tasting menu. despite everything we will continue to be kind and treat everyone with attention, courtesy and kindness. Thank you and we wish you a wonderful day

9/10A beautiful, atmospheric venue for fine dining. The food showcased the best seasonal ingredients, carefully and imaginatively presented. The service was professionally delivered by friendly and enthusiastic staff, until the end of our final course when there was an over emphasis by the team on clearing the room and preparing for closure. Pricing was reasonable and the mark up on wine was not overly painful. Worth a detour!

10/10We had the 6 course tasting menu with paired wines. The whole experience was memorable - lovely building, friendly and informative service and unusual, mostly local Sicilian wines and food. Thoroughly recommended.

5/10Gagini is rated a 1-star Michelin, and other reviews rave about it. We were truly anticipating the experience - a chef tasting of 9 courses. Our first surprise was how casual the place is. It looks a bit like a hip bistro. Servers in jeans and sneakers. They were polite if not truly attentive. The menu is very eclectic - maybe too much so. Instead of being delighted by each taste, including wine pairing, we were often taken aback by unpleasant flavors. Sheep tartare was a first for us - and a last. Same for milt (tuna sperm sac, which I know is considered a rare delicacy). The preparation with oyster foam was just overwhelming. We've dined in many Michelin rated venues - including 3-star. Gagini was disappointing especially for the premium price of this meal. We would not return or recommend.

8/10Excellent food and service. Absolutely detest Italian restaurants only offering bottled water for a charge.

6.5/10Fantastic place, and top of the notch service but food not up to the reputation of a Michelin star. We had the 8 dishes and only two were what you’d expect from a gourmet restaurant. No chef in sight, no info about the chef, and probably not even in the kitchen. The sequence of dishes didn’t tell a story and were quite disconnected apart. Different tables received different dishes although on the same tasting menu and there was no wine pairing. Not exactly what you’d expect for a 400 euros bill for two people.

4.5/10Food was extremely disappointing, I am noting the tendency to receive Michelin stars just for the “unusualness” of the dishes as opposed to actually being tasty and pleasing. Nothing went well together in any of the dishes I’ve tried, everything tasted completely in standalone

5/10The service was lovely and the ambiance was great arm. Unfortunately, the food was beyond disappointing. Out of 8 courses I think we enjoyed 2 of them. 3 were tolerable. 2 were not good. And one was absolutely abysmal. There were textures that were really unappealing, which can very much be subjective. But overall the dishes we did not enjoy were extremely flavourless or they were so overpowered by one note that, they seemed one dimensional. I found these plates devoid of complexity, depth, and integrity. There were dishes that attempted to build a big story in their presentation and flavour profile, but unfortunately they fell short (by a lot) in attaining the standard demanded by a Michelin star restaurant. And I was actually shocked to find out that this restaurant does still hold the Michelin star title and believe this should be reviewed. Priced as a Michelin star, but quality of something much less.

10/10So many elements: art on the walls, people delivering human-centered service, low key, delicious and well presented culinary delights.

4.5/10The dishes were served rapidly one after another. The asparagus dish was special and nice, the spaghetti dish was like you can get in a standard low-level restaurant and the dessert was ok. The wine was superb. The personnel was attentive but not really nice. All over, absolutely not worth the money (€ 30 per dish) and not worth the michelin star.

4/10From the amuse bouche, which consisted of 3 items that were almost inedible... one had seeds that couldn't be chewed... to the carpaccio that had 2 little clams atop the scoop with clam juice that smelled like sewage, to the raw prawns that were nothing to write home about, we have no idea how this is a 1 star Michelin restaurant. One of the pasta dishes was noodles with bland, watery tomato sauce thrown over it. The other was interesting. The desserts we ordered contained mango sorbet... one with blueberries, the other with goat cheese --- interesting, but nothing to tantalize anyone's taste buds. The hard bread came with no olive oil or butter. Two wines ordered from the wine list were unavailable, so they brought a third from the same vintner which we were told was equivalent. All in all, the portions were puny, service was slow, and the food was not good. At $300 for the two of us, we had better meals throughout the rest of Italy at 1/3 the price. I am a journalist who had planned on including this restaurant in my travel article on Sicily, but have decided to omit it entirely, as I am not the restaurant critic, so will leave bad reviews to him. I do, however, know unacceptable food, and have no idea how Michelin deemed this particular restaurant worthy of a star. Baffling!

8/10Disappointing for a michellin star in sicily. Did a la carte menu. Very overpriced, specially starters. Most plates sounded unoriginal. It seemed to me like they are trying to feel Michellin, but did not feel special. I did not like my sheep ravioli at all. The amuse bouche had some odd flavors. Limited wine by glass, undisclosed on the menu. I ended skipping dessert. They should focus on impeccable service, add wines and drinks by the glass to the menu, and consider lowering their prices. My least impressive meal in 5 days in sicily.
