10/10From start to finish our experience at Gallo Nero was outstanding. Impeccable friendly and professional service and extraordinary flavor combinations from the chef left us delighted after each course. A truly wonderful meal and experience with great ambience. Treat yourselves when in Siena.

10/10I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gallo Nero and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we entered, Antonio and Kristina, our servers, greeted us with warm smiles and impeccable service. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The true star of the evening, however, was the chef. The food that was presented to us was nothing short of marvelous. Each dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. Not only did the chef create delicious dishes, but they also surprised us with thoughtful presents throughout the meal. It was such a delightful touch that truly made our dining experience one to remember.

10/10What a wonderful restaurant! We have been fortunate to have eaten in some fantastic restaurants, including some with Michelin stars and this up there with them and in some cases, much better. Friendly and efficient service, quirky but elegant surroundings and truly excellent food. Our best meal in Siena and our best meal anywhere for some time. Thank you.

10/10This is dining done right. The ambiance is elegant but not stuffy. All furniture is midcentury giving the dining room a clever and thoughtful look. The service was solicitous but not overbearing. The food excellently prepared. The 5 course tasting menu plus wine pairing is an excellent value at 100Euro.

10/10This was totally unique. Two tasting menus really stretch the boundaries of Tuscan/italian food, each small course a culinary adventure. It made for a most memorable evening.

6.5/10The restaurant was well designed and very charming. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. However, the servings were surprisingly small. For some odd reason, midway through the dinner, things started going downhill. They got our orders wrong and one of us had to wait an additional 20 mins for the kitchen to redo his entree. What left a particularly bad taste was the fact that we really liked the olive oil served. We asked the owner about purchasing some bottles and he gave us a fancy story about how it is made only in small batches by his family's farm for the restaurant's use but he would sell a few bottles to us if we really wanted them. And he said they could not be purchased online. Well, we found out later the oil could be purchased online for a lot less money and it wasn't even from his family's farm.

6.5/10Disappointing. Amberjack was fishy. Linguine was bland. Restaurant was surprisingly empty on our arrival and now I know why. We did enjoy the crispy egg appetizer add brunello house red.

10/10My husband found this little restaurant weeks before our trip to Tuscany and we were really pleased they had availability. Service and ambiance were wonderful and matched perfectly with the delicious food and great Brunello! Favorite s were the Tartar and the glazed duck main course…wow!

10/10We love Gallo Nero. We make it a point to return when in Siena as a special treat for ourselves. Rocco and his staff are great. The recipes are creative, the wines delicious and we love the cute set up in a quiet side street.

6.5/10The restaurant was not busy and the waiters seemed to be not interested in providing quality service. Maybe because most diners don’t tip in Italy. I’m not sure but expected more for the expensive meal.

8/10Gallo Nero is lovely, the service is excellent and the food is good. We went here because it is AIC certified for being safe for celiacs. While the restaurant definitely safely accommodated my gluten intolerance, it didn’t stand out from the pack. It substituted OK GF spaghetti like you can buy at the store and subpar bread. There are so many excellent restaurants in Italy catering to the gluten-challenged population, I’ve come to feel like accommodating is not good enough, especially for a high-end venue like this one.

10/10This restaurant was excellent from start to finish, the food quality was insanely good, the service brilliant and the owner was delightful. All of the dishes hit the mark and the wine selected by the team to compliment the food was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if in town.

10/10This was great! The best meal in Siena so far! Very nice professional service. The food was super. Food was really top level, we both had the risotto and rack of lamb which were both great. The dessert with the chocolate and coffee was super. The wine list was large with great choices. We loved it.

8.5/10I was a little disappointed by the octopus which was not so tender and the pasta with the ragu where missing of seasoning. The starter with the crispy egg taken by my husband was delicious.

10/10The dining room is beautiful and together with the welcoming staff, create a pleasant atmosphere. The three waiters and sommelier were all very helpful with intolerances and recommendations and we were very happy with our wine selection. The food was exquisite, fairly priced and we even got invited to tour their wine cellar with an introduction to their new additions. Highly recommended!

10/10Amazing food and service, the atmosphere is lovely, perfect for a romantic dinner. The wine list is great and all the waiters were lovely, it isn’t cheap but worth it, so if you’re only a day and want to make the most of it, make this your stop.

7.5/10Nice ambiance but definitely catering to the English speaking tourists. Our food was good but unfortunately served cold. Our male server seemed a little unpolished compared to the woman serving tables around us and may have been why we our food wasn’t hot. Also, no choice given on how the beef was served and it was too rare for our liking.

9.5/10Booked in advance and we’re pleased we had. Food was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere cosy and stylish. I had the fish (Croaker- what?!) and loved it. The others had Creamy Cod and pasta dishes. All excellent.

5.5/10It could be a romantic place, if it weren’t for the scoters and delivery trucks coming by every 5 min in what is supposed to be a walking zone. Wine list is ok, not great. Food is a 5 out of a scale of 1-10. Waiters are at times attentive, but it took 10 minutes and 3 reminders to pay the bill. We won’t come back.
