Very original dishes with excellent quality of produce. Not a traditional Tuscan restaurant, the latter of which there are plenty. The restaurant nevertheless uses local produce and turns it into very original and tasty dishes. I decided on a wine pairing and was not disappointed about the quality of the wines. The restaurant setting is with lovely furniture of the 70s and the service is excellent. It could do with a bit lesss formal. Overall an excellent experience and definitely worth visiting.

This was the best meal of our May 2025 trip to Tuscany—and one of the finest we've had anywhere in Italy or beyond. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine enthusiasm by the proprietor, whose passion for his family’s restaurant and the building’s history added such richness to the evening. Much of the produce comes from their nearby farm, and the freshness was evident in every beautifully prepared, creative, and delicious dish. Several surprise amuse bouches throughout the meal added an extra layer of care and delight. The wine was equally outstanding. We’ll absolutely return—and would travel far just to dine here again. A true gem and the very best of Siena.

I have eaten in more than 50 Michelin starred restaurants in the last 16 months and this is one of the best meals I have had in Italy. From the service, attention to detail on the table, the delicious food and the great wine pairing made the experience unique. Highly recommended restaurant for any occasion.

What an incredible evening. This was a random find on Google due to their gluten free options. We opted for their 5-course menu with pairings and are counting down the days until we can go back. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance brought it all together.

This is THE BEST restaurant my boyfriend and I have both individually been to. Stellar service, stellar food, stellar presentation, stellar attention to detail. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gallo Nero and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we entered, Antonio and Kristina, our servers, greeted us with warm smiles and impeccable service. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The true star of the evening, however, was the chef. The food that was presented to us was nothing short of marvelous. Each dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. Not only did the chef create delicious dishes, but they also surprised us with thoughtful presents throughout the meal. It was such a delightful touch that truly made our dining experience one to remember.

What a wonderful restaurant! We have been fortunate to have eaten in some fantastic restaurants, including some with Michelin stars and this up there with them and in some cases, much better. Friendly and efficient service, quirky but elegant surroundings and truly excellent food. Our best meal in Siena and our best meal anywhere for some time. Thank you.

This is dining done right. The ambiance is elegant but not stuffy. All furniture is midcentury giving the dining room a clever and thoughtful look. The service was solicitous but not overbearing. The food excellently prepared. The 5 course tasting menu plus wine pairing is an excellent value at 100Euro.

The restaurant was well designed and very charming. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. However, the servings were surprisingly small. For some odd reason, midway through the dinner, things started going downhill. They got our orders wrong and one of us had to wait an additional 20 mins for the kitchen to redo his entree. What left a particularly bad taste was the fact that we really liked the olive oil served. We asked the owner about purchasing some bottles and he gave us a fancy story about how it is made only in small batches by his family's farm for the restaurant's use but he would sell a few bottles to us if we really wanted them. And he said they could not be purchased online. Well, we found out later the oil could be purchased online for a lot less money and it wasn't even from his family's farm.

Disappointing. Amberjack was fishy. Linguine was bland. Restaurant was surprisingly empty on our arrival and now I know why. We did enjoy the crispy egg appetizer add brunello house red.

My husband found this little restaurant weeks before our trip to Tuscany and we were really pleased they had availability. Service and ambiance were wonderful and matched perfectly with the delicious food and great Brunello! Favorite s were the Tartar and the glazed duck main course…wow!

We love Gallo Nero. We make it a point to return when in Siena as a special treat for ourselves. Rocco and his staff are great. The recipes are creative, the wines delicious and we love the cute set up in a quiet side street.

The restaurant was not busy and the waiters seemed to be not interested in providing quality service. Maybe because most diners don’t tip in Italy. I’m not sure but expected more for the expensive meal.

Gallo Nero is lovely, the service is excellent and the food is good. We went here because it is AIC certified for being safe for celiacs. While the restaurant definitely safely accommodated my gluten intolerance, it didn’t stand out from the pack. It substituted OK GF spaghetti like you can buy at the store and subpar bread. There are so many excellent restaurants in Italy catering to the gluten-challenged population, I’ve come to feel like accommodating is not good enough, especially for a high-end venue like this one.

This restaurant was excellent from start to finish, the food quality was insanely good, the service brilliant and the owner was delightful. All of the dishes hit the mark and the wine selected by the team to compliment the food was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if in town.
