A really buzzy local restaurant. Very nice service. Small seasonal menu with unusual food, beautifully cooked and presented. About £70 a head including door drinks. Would certainly recommend.

A wonderful, traditional Dutch restaurant with plain decor and arguably the very best local cuisine we’ve ever had. Their multi-course menu allows you to pick dishes from within each course, to customize your dinner. Each course comes with a well matched wine.

I went with my two closest friends last night -- We found every dish full of flavor and were delighted with the freshness of the food. I chose the wine pairings (half glasses!), and I was impressed with how well the wine and food complemented each other. One friend works as a waiter, and he was very impressed with the calm efficiency of the restaurant -- how brilliantly everyone was performing without breaking a sweat.

This restaurant is celebrating 40 years in business and obviously has a loyal local following. The food was delicious, local, seasonal and flavourful. The restaurant was full and buzzing- a busy but comfortable atmosphere, the staff were working really hard but service was still friendly and timely. But the food! Flavour bombs beautifully presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and would highly recommend. Bought their cookery book too!

The food is a bit hit and miss, some are very tasty and some are a bit bland. My husband had the fennel soup and it was way too over seasoned, he’s not much of a complainer and by the time I tried it he already had half of it. I had the fish for main and it was incredibly well done, from the sauce to garnishing everything was very tasty. But then my pistachios crème brûlée wasn’t that great…

Delightful in every regard! We were welcomed at the door by the owner and it only got better from there. What a lovely setting, warm inviting and comfortable. Two menus were presented- their seasonal menu and the Chef’s special menu, which was a fall seasonally focused menu built around wild game.choice of 3, 4 or 5 course. I was leaning towards all five, but my wife wasn’t as hungry so they suggested coming either three and then see if we wanted to order more. Wow, such beautifully prepared foods, great presentations and paced nicely- we never felt rushed although the place was hopping, especially for a Tuesday evening. Says a lot! Service staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Engaging at the right levels. We decided on the wine pairings and our server was extremely knowledgeable and we felt the pairing worked perfectly with the food. I’d definitely go back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Amsterdam and looking for an exceptional, contemporary Dutch menu and a place to have a memorable experience

Food was good with interesting pairing of different kind of flavors. It's a bit too expensive, especially when they charged 37,5€ for one course since one person didn't order the 3 courses menu option. The location it's nice and the staff is friendly. The service could be more attentive in my opinion.

We were really pleased to be able to book a table at Hemelse Modder, and booked it for our last night as a group in Amsterdam. The restaurant was lovely and light, and absolutely full, which is always a good sign. The minimum number of course is 3, and I think we had 4 each (can't resist a cheese course...). Good choices on the menu and everyone really enjoyed their choices. The service was excellent. It was a great end to our trip and we would definitely go back again.
