IL Segreto delivers an exceptional dining experience, combining outstanding service with a warm and inviting ambiance. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed, thanks to the incredible hospitality of Danny, who took care of our table with genuine attentiveness. He went above and beyond to make our two children feel special, offering them a thoughtful welcome drink and surprising our table with a delightful appetizer. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was equally enjoyable, but what truly set this experience apart was the impeccable service. Danny’s kindness and professionalism made a lasting impression, and we will always remember his hospitality. Thank you, Danny, for making our visit unforgettable!

Il Segreto features expertly-crafted dishes in a small, fun setting two blocks north of Vatican City’s northern wall. A wood-fired grill makes for great roasted foods (octopus was superb), and the staff is young and hip but knowledgeable and attentive. It was an oasis after several hours of walking marble floors in the nearby Vatican Museums.

one of the best meals we had in Rome, and the staff was very kind to us. i had the special, and it was excellent. i was a little nervous that our waiter was very talkative and boisterous at first (we are quieter folks, and were a bit tired for the whole song and dance), but he seemed to pick up on our vibe, calmed down, and was very helpful and sweet.

Amazing place: delicious carbonara, great tiramisu, and cheesecake with raspberry sauce, paired with good wine. The decoration is nice and simple. The staff is absolutely amazing: customer-centric, kind, friendly, funny, and genuinely interested in meeting customers' expectations. I will definitely go back there!

What a fantastic lunch and great staff! Would 110% recommend this terrific place. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff and service are also top notch. You can see the kitchen from the tables and their chef was certainly fun to watch. She made us such delicious pasta she gets 10 stars from us. My sister, niece and I went for lunch here before we stopped at the Vatican and I am sure glad we did. If you are thinking of doing the same then make a reservation and enjoy! It seems like they also do some cooking classes so maybe check that out too as I am sure it would be fun. Next time I am in Rome I will be coming back to Il Segreto. Thanks for the delicious and memorable lunch in Rome.

Our host, Jack, was a wonderful and welcoming waiter who anticipated our needs and was very accommodating to our poor Italian language skills. The food was fantastico! We received a complimentary wine, and several other surprises during our dining experience. This restaurant exceeded our very high expectations. Dine here if you can while in the Vatican area.

Only high table available not that comfortable on a hot and tiring afternoon. Service was overly familiar. Food wasn’t great it was barely ok. Would not go back or recommend. Very saddening since you only have so much time in the city and this restaurant was well recommended. Poor 😖

The food was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend that. The waitress however was like an excited puppy and while passionate was over the top for us. There was also a lot of noise in the restaurant which is great sometimes but for us that night was a little too much.

We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here and were amazed by the food and service. The carbonara, fettuccine with prosciutto, and burrata with more prosciutto were all fresh, delicious and filling. The best part imo—Jack and Sid were superb hosts, they even sang him a birthday song. Thank you to the whole team for such a wonderful time! ❤️ We will remember this experience in Rome and highly recommend everyone to dine here!

My husband and I had reservations here after spending the day at the Vatican Museum during our honeymoon and it was the best meal we ate in Rome. The service and wait staff were outstanding and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough!
