6/10I am surprised this restaurant had Michellin recognition. The carrot appetizer was ridiculously small, didn't even contain a medium size carrot worth of vegetable. Stroganoff was good but, everything was overpriced (I see that is someone who eats in a lot of nice restaurants). A good restaurant but, did not meet expectations

9/10A typical "brasserie parisienne" ambiance with a touch of class. Impeccably clean, very attentive service and quality dishes in relation with the theme. Definitely worth a trip, especially in view of the fact that there are less and less "brasseries" or "bistrots" around us. Perfect location two steps away from Bern main station.

5.5/10The restaurant is well known and has a certain reputation for it’s Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad. I found the the price in time of this plate has increased but the size of the bread crumbed veal has decreased and the potato salad had very little taste.

While you are right and our prices evolve with time, I wish to assure you that our Wienerschnitzel are still prepared with the exact same weight of meat. Being prepared by hand in our kitchen, every Wienerschnitzel is unique in its form and it can happen that they seem smaller, but the portion remains the same in every plate. As for the potato salad, I am very sorry to read that it was not as tasteful as on your last visit. I wish you would have brought it up to the attention our our Service Team as we could have checked it and prepared a new potato salad for you. I do hope that this will not prevent you from coming back to us and that we will have the chance to welcome you again and serve you better on your next visit. 10/10Jack’s Brasserie, never ends in delivering top-notch food and world-class service in an old school setting. Had lunch on a Saturday and the service just made our day (from the the Porter to the waitress taking care of us) - very attentative, relaxed but in a very professional manner, helpful and all with a smile. The food was outstanding, from the veal tatare to their signature Wiener Schnitzel which was just amazing (crispy, ulyra thin non-greasy encrusted veal) with fantastic potato & cucumber salad and lingonberries) served on warm plates (not always the case in many places these days). The dinning room is a propper old world brasserie with a lot of space between tables with ample of space, real cloth linnen, napkins etc. The WC’s are in a world of their own, keeping up with the theme. So, based on the service alone, we will come back without blinking… Thank you for a great experience.

7.5/10Beautiful brasserie, very good traditional brasserie food but sadly the service destroyed the romantic evening. Bread was served after the starter, we had to help ourselves with wine, water and second service...and a waiting time of 40min for the crêpes flambées, at a time where the restaurant was already half empty on a Saturday evening. Not what one expects in such an restaurant!

6/10We were anticipating a lovely dinner, but came away disappointed. We were seated at 8:15 at a table over looking an alley. We waited quite a while to receive water, and when ordering our meals I was told that the kitchen could not accommodate my wife’s dairy allergy on most of the menu items. The menu stated that the kitchen staff would be happy to do so. While lifting my cocktail glass, the bottom fell out of the glass and tumbled onto the table and the contents landed all over the table and on me. When the waiter finally came back he didn’t seem to know what to do. We had to ask to be moved to another table and for some extra napkins to dry my clothes. We then waited a very long time for our entrees, which arrived about 90 minutes after we were originally seated. The food was excellent, but it was so late- after 10:00 pm, , it was difficult to enjoy. When receiving the bill, we noted that the restaurant did not provide me with a complimentary drink to replace the broken glass. We could not find our waiter, so we paid the bill and left.

5.5/10For our anniversary dinner, we asked in writing for a table away from the door, and serving areas. We were seated beside the main door and to the side of the door going to the bar. Diagonally off to us was the serving station. The service was very good, a kind waiter from France who was very attentive. The wine list is extensive, with some very interesting Swiss wines. They also offer quite a few half bottles, which is welcome for those of us driving, and a Coravin option, allowing those who want one fine glass of wine without buying the whole bottle to choose that option. However, I ate the "Zürich Geschnetzeltes", a famous Swiss dish of veal in cream with Rösti (fried potatoes) and apparently a specialty of the house. It tasted as if it had been prepared elsewhere and delivered in a plastic bag to the kitchen. Sickly sweet and lacking in the typical taste and consistency of this dish. The Rösti was a pre-prepared round disc, somewhat soggy and probably slapped on the grill at the last moment. It was not even lukewarm. When I asked for a new Rösti I was told it would cost extra, quite something given this one plate cost CHF 48.- and the awful quality. A real disappointment for a dish which is supposed to be the house specialty. My husband's Wiener Schnitzel was crisp but without any personality. This used to be a good restaurant but it seems now it is resting on its laurels. We will not go back.

Especially these dishes, which are, as you mentioned, some of our specialities and we have not received any similar feedback. Have your shared your feedback with the service staff on site? It is always extremely helpful for us to receive such feedback directly so that we can react immediately. We could have prepared new portions for you for example. I can however assure you that all our dishes are prepared in house and that the rösti is made into a round disc for esthetic reasons by our chef with fresh potatoes. I am very sorry that you had such a disappointment. Nevertheless, I would like to thank you for your kind words about our service team and your positive feedback on our wine list.
