9/10The food was delicious and the portions were huge I would recommend eating here, however, they tried to charge us 9 euros for tap water and wrote on the bill for tips. This let's them down as it isn't necessary. No where else did this they should stop doing it as it will give them a bad reputation

2/10This was the most disappointing meal we ate in Paris and it was on our last night there. We had high hopes for the traditional French cuisine, which turned out to be less than mediocre. We ordered stuffed morel mushrooms that arrived in a brown sauce that had no flavour. We also asked for a salad that was a pile of frisee overdressed in balsamic vinegar that cost 16 Euros. For our main courses, we ordered boeuf bourginon--it had three chunks of meat swimming in sauce, no carrots, no shallots, and no potatoes. We also ordered cassoulet--it had a tiny piece of duck, one piece of sausage, massive chunks of inedible bacon hidden in enough beans to feed a small army. The service was also terrible and the ambience lacking. The food was overpriced too. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. I can't tell you how upsetting it was for this to be our final meal in Paris. :(

9.5/10A bit of a step back in time. Amazing, honest, traditional food with very generous portions. Wine was excellent and served in a most professional manner. Jolly atmosphere and the Mille-Feuille...........you tell me!! Recommended. Book ahead

8/10The service was really excellent. The fois gras was practically frozen so it was impossible to taste. The terrine was ice cold so it was flavorless. The celebrated bourgeonne and confit were beyond delicious. The souffles was extraordinary -I would go back just for the souffle

10/10Chez Dumonet remains one of Paris's great restaurants" authentic, friendly, with remarkable food and a brilliant selection of premium wines by the glass. A salad of mache with shavings of fresh black truffle; a mille feuille of fabulous rare pigeon in a potato crust; a splendid cheese course. How could one do better? Nicholas Fox Weber

7/10Joséphine chez Dumonet was recommended and we came for an authentic restaurant but straight from the beginning the service was bad. We had to wait for everything, often ignored, no great wine recommendations, had to ask to have our dishes cleared after sitting there for like 30 min with dinner complete. No check backs or check ins from the waiters. The food was good but definitely had better during our visit in Paris.

8.5/10The beef bourguignon was phenomenal - the best we’ve had in Paris or anywhere else. The grand marnier soufflé was like a cloud. Truly delicious food. And we had a stuffed mushroom appetizer that had such incredible flavor.

9.5/10+5Many of the US based restaurant lists have Josephine chez Dumonet on their list of top Bistros. The meal did not disappoint. If you come expecting a moderately priced meal you will be disappointed. If you expect excellent Bistro fare prepared and served in an elegant fashion, you will be very happy. Simple decor, kind of three sections to the restaurant. We sat next to the kitchen and got to peek in from time to time. The food was excellent from a starter of stuffed morels to John Dory and Au Bourguignon and souffle and Apple tart for dessert. expect about $90 USD sans wine per person.

6.5/10Sadly Josephine is no more. The food has gone downhill, wine comes from a machine at the bar and the prices are sky high. Filled with clueless tourists, not like the old days. I do not recommend.

4.5/10Our presence never was seem to be welcome. The menu was not explain, the wine was served in a small glass different from all other tables. The waiter was never around us snd never ask if we wanted to have another glass of wine. The order of the food was wrong. At the end they brought us the check without asking for it I had ask for a desert but the waiter was always running and did’nt hear. Then he came to say deserts were ordered at the beginning of the meal, yes it was written in the menu but a good waiter explains those rules and be patient and kind. They all were rude at the end, so we paid and left. For sure I will never go back. Paris has tons of places with excellent food and waiters that make visitors happy and welcome!

5.5/10Beef burgundy was fabulous; white fish was not good. Americans are seated at back near kitchen and toilettes. Food was hot when served and desserts were wonderful. After we were seated we waited quite a while before anyone returned to take wine order.

10/10+2Simple dishes exquisitely prepared Beef bourginon and duck to die for. Grand Marnier souffle. Warm, inviting ambiance that feels quintessentially French. A highlight among a week of fine dining in France.

10/10This visit was recommended to us by a friend who had visited Paris and we are so thankful we made a reservation. Every portion of our meal was absolutely delicious. The show stopper was the beef tartare made table side, I truly do not think I will ever had anything that tasted that good again. The soufflé was an absolute stunner at the end and tasted amazing. Big thank you to the staff for making this an unforgettable evening.

4/10The meal was terrible. The endive and blue cheese salad was swimming in (a not tasty) salad dressing. The steak was huge but tasteless, the cassoulet was burnt and the duck was swimming in a brown sauce. Also, the restaurant attracts Americans; the room we were in was all Americans. Perhaps the French know something that we unfortunately didn't before we made the reservation.

7.5/10Lost much of its charm and is now almost all tourists. I think the food has suffered as a result. The wine list and prices appeared to be much higher than on past visits, and I doubt if locals would pay those prices. My first visit it was about 20-25% tourists - now almost 90-95%. I'm not against tourists - but I find it is local patronage that drives the quality of the food (and the prices on the wine list).

8.5/10Terrific food. Ambiance - foreigners, specifically Anglophones, are contained in a Siberia in the rear corner of the restaurant, not life-enhancing. Reserve in the main dining area. Impeccable boeuf bourgognon, soufflé Grand Marnier, costly wine list. Cute servers.

10/10This is one of our very favorite restaurants in Paris. We have been coming here for many years. The food is always outstanding, particularly the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Grand Marnier Soufflé. Service is excellent and while the ambiance is that of a comfortable old shoe, it somehow is comforting that it doesn’t change.

3/10The food was overpriced for how mediocre it was. Very overpriced. The boeuf bourgignon was inedible. Tasted like vinegar. And something was wrong with every other dish except the Mille feuille. So disappointed. And confused.
