What was clearly a very popular restaurant is suffering from poor service. There appeared to be too few service staff for a Friday evening. Our food, and others, was left on a service desk for a number of minutes before being presented. Other diners were having the same problems as us. Will not be recommending the restaurant to anyone.

Service was attentive, I was brought a bowl of olives and my wine shortly after ordering. Within three minutes, my salad and main course were brought to the table together. My salad had Breaded and fried cheese on it, which was cold. The fish entrée was exceptional, wonderful sauce. I don't know what the rush was, to have all the courses presented at the same time.

Our waiter for a table of 8 women was AMAZING!!!! His English and French and attitude was perfect! I would go back again! The escargot appetizer is spot on - and I recommend the cote-du-Rhône wine! The price was spot on! Thank you sunday night of the 8th of October!!!

The restaurant looks beautiful inside, the decor is opulent and rich, but this does not match the overall experience. Two of us were sat on banquette style seating which was very low to the table and not very comfortable. Aperitifs were served (kir royal for me) and were very nice. We ordered food and wine. There was a bit of a wait for both food and wine to arrive, despite there only bring 3 tables occupied inside (although outside tables were quite busy). The Wine choice my partner had made was not available, but rather then tell him that and ask him if he could make another choice, the server picked something else himself (which was not what he would have chosen if he had the option). We took his alterative choice though as the food was now arriving at the table. My fellow diners were disappointed as their food arrived on cold plates (mine was a cold dish anyway) and the frites were barely luke warm. One fellow diner with steak thought it a little tough, and another had fish that looked a little dried out, as though under a hot light waiting to leave the kitchen. I had steak tartare, and I must say that was very delicious. A little disappointing overall, compared to other places we have eaten in Lyon. I would not rush back here.

Really beautiful restaurant. The waiter was a bit clumsy but he was sweet and helpful so it was okay. I had the beef fillet and the waiter asked how I would like it done - medium rare - but it came back well done. If you ask please make sure that the chef knows how to cook it. My profiteroles was not small and delicate but rather one gigantic one.

We really enjoyed our time at L'Institution. The food was delicious, beautifully. presented, and the outside patio was delightful. We'd like to go back and try some of the cocktails! The staff was very kind, with great suggestions.

Good restaurant, in the heart of Lyon. The starter (Asian style) was good and 1 'anduillette', very nice even if I'd have preferred the mustard aside. Great music (piano); the overall ambiance was good. The service was good and the price reflects the experience. Negative note: I booked via TheFork with a 20% discount but it wasn't applied to the bill
