6/10Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. I ordered wrong and did not enjoy my dinner at all- I believe this was my own fault. Entree took 3 hours to arrive.

10/10Unfortunately, there were 2 dogs at the table next to us. Beside the fact that I am allergic to most dogs (and cats). the dogs were free to walk around/under the table, growling, barking and making other noise. To me, this was unacceptable and I will not recommend to friends that frequently visit France.

10/10The restaurant is on a 900 year old beautifully preserved building. Table settings were impeccable. Our server had lots of experience creating the best context for the famous Rouen’s Canard (Canard au sang). Food plenty and delicious. Great experience!

10/10We took train from Paris to Rouen to have lunch here. It was well worth the trip. Atmosphere and service was excellent. Food was over the top. My dish of Dover Sole was absolutely the best fish I have had during my 75 year life span. Each of the other three voiced the same satisfaction. All would have been just perfect had not my ham handed good friend, in his normal bumbling manner, dumped the stand, holding a large tray of ice and raw oysters, directly onto my plate and the table in front of me. I told him I might change my mind and insist he pick up the check. Seriously though, the waiter handled the mishap in a low key, very efficient manner, and lunch continued. Most excellent experience and my wife says we will be back.

10/10What a wonderful place - marvelous food, great service, and a 14th century environment! Who could ask for more?? It was the best food I had in France (and that's saying a lot). Highly recommended

10/10We had a lovely evening at La Couronne. From cocktails to dessert everything was perfect. We shared the terrine of foie Gras and each had the sole meunière. I had the Grand Marnier soufflé. It was perfect!

6/10Very friendly staff and good (but not great food). Go for the glimpses of the photos or to say you went to the oldest cafe, but much better food options in Rouen, and less blatantly aimed at tourists.

10/10Our meal at La Couronne was truly a highlight of our stop in Rouen. The Chateaubriand was fabulous—tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared—while my wife’s scallops were equally outstanding. The Grand Marnier soufflé was the perfect dessert to complete an extraordinary meal. Dining in the oldest tavern in France added to the experience, with a charming, historic atmosphere that made the evening feel truly special. A memorable culinary experience from start to finish.

6/10First things first: the ambience is really original. It reminded us a little of ‘L’Aile ou la cuisse’ with Louis de Funès. The reception was friendly. The table, on the other hand, was disappointing: completely pressed against the wall and wobbly. The waiters also noticed this, but nothing was done about it. No matter - luckily we found a piece of paper to put under the table in the bag. As we walked past, the waiter cleared the vase from our table, then turned his back on us and left us with the impression that we were to blame for the mishap. Wine service - something you might have expected in a restaurant like this - was rudimentary. The waiter usually only came when you were pouring your own. The food was okay overall. Nothing special, but definitely not bad. All in all, a restaurant that you are welcome to try. If you don't, it's not the end of the world. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

6/10I made a lunch reservation for 6 people months in advance to ensure we would be able to enjoy this restaurant it was my most anticipated meals of our trip. The greeting, ambiance, and service were very good. However, when it came to the food it was less than ideal. I ordered duck and it was served lukewarm and very well done. It was like two pieces of hardened leather on a plate and quite inedible. The server had to know that this was inappropriate. My other lunch mate that ordered duck had much nicer slices of medium rare presentation. My panna cotta dessert was still frozen in the center. In hindsight I should have returned the duck. Much is made of this restaurant’s history. Julia would be ashamed.

10/10We dined here in November 2024 during the lunch service. The food and the service made it a fabulous experience.. They received us with conviviality. We spent 2.5 hours over lunch and enjoyed every minute of it. Each dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. The food was excellent and you will not find another cheese selection as large as their offering! It was a cheese adventure. Our favorite part of our service was our server Jake. Who spoke excellent English and explained every course with enthusiasm while answering our many questions. He made our culinary adventure fun. 10/10An exceptional experience! I was traveling alone in Rouen, and decided on this establishment to have dinner on my first night. Wow! A warm, welcoming, beautiful restaurant. The food was delicious (don't skip the cheese plate) and service remarkable. Thomas personally took care of everything and was so friendly. He really took the time to make sure every detail was perfect. The meal was a great start to mt stay in Rouen and I highly recommend it to everyone- solo travellers and groups alike.

Unforgettable experience. Unique food that you. Can’t try anywhere else (we had a duck that was prepared in front of us using old recipes). Absolutely love the ambiance.. Old-fashion charming decor (this restaurant is the most oldest one in France), friendly atmosphere. The waitress Alan was amazing. Indefinitely, this place should be visited for old recipes experience and great time.
