Food was ver good, but this is the first time I left snubbed as an American. Maître did not check on us, only paid attention to the French people in the restaurant which was about half. Was also the one who had to ring up the tab which after asking took us 40 minutes to get it. Was too busy with the French customers. Julia would be ashamed. This was not a hurried impatience American, we had been their 3 hours already. We were being ignored.

Even with a reservation...,....... Worst table in the restaurant , while many were available. Warm beer. Food was good Waiter didn't care at all about us. The sign said English speaking. We expected more explanation of options and selections. If he spoke English, he chose not to speak. I will not recommend.

A restaurant of great renown that truly lives up to its reputation. From the moment you step inside, you can feel the weight of history in its walls, yet the atmosphere remains welcoming rather than intimidating. The staff are attentive and engaging, striking just the right balance between professionalism and warmth. We chose the seasonal menu, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The most pleasant surprise, however, was its affordability — exceptional quality at a price that makes the experience all the more memorable.

The restaurant is the perfect quintessential French Restaurant . Yes it’s in a touristy location but it rises above and doesn’t let you down It’s classic, I hope it remains that way.

There were 4 of us. They put us at a 6 top table and never even removed the silverware or chairs, it was not comfortable , and very hard to converse. Hans was our waiter, he was very abrupt and although we had a 2 pm reservation, he said the kitchen closed at 2:30 and we had to order right away. The food was good, the room lovely. Hans needs another profession, and gives this lovely restaurant a bad name.

Unfortunately, there were 2 dogs at the table next to us. Beside the fact that I am allergic to most dogs (and cats). the dogs were free to walk around/under the table, growling, barking and making other noise. To me, this was unacceptable and I will not recommend to friends that frequently visit France.

The restaurant is on a 900 year old beautifully preserved building. Table settings were impeccable. Our server had lots of experience creating the best context for the famous Rouen’s Canard (Canard au sang). Food plenty and delicious. Great experience!

We took train from Paris to Rouen to have lunch here. It was well worth the trip. Atmosphere and service was excellent. Food was over the top. My dish of Dover Sole was absolutely the best fish I have had during my 75 year life span. Each of the other three voiced the same satisfaction. All would have been just perfect had not my ham handed good friend, in his normal bumbling manner, dumped the stand, holding a large tray of ice and raw oysters, directly onto my plate and the table in front of me. I told him I might change my mind and insist he pick up the check. Seriously though, the waiter handled the mishap in a low key, very efficient manner, and lunch continued. Most excellent experience and my wife says we will be back.

We had a lovely evening at La Couronne. From cocktails to dessert everything was perfect. We shared the terrine of foie Gras and each had the sole meunière. I had the Grand Marnier soufflé. It was perfect!

Very friendly staff and good (but not great food). Go for the glimpses of the photos or to say you went to the oldest cafe, but much better food options in Rouen, and less blatantly aimed at tourists.
