+1We were inspired to go to La Couronne since Julia Child had her first meal in France there and it was a life changing experience for her. We ordered the same meal that Julia had had that day and we were not disappointed ! Each course was delicious and something special. The entire dining experience was wonderful. The servers were warm and welcoming and the ambiance in the small main floor dining room was cozy. It was also interesting to see the preparation of the famous duck á la rouennaise at a nearby table. We look forward to returning the next time we’re in Rouen.

A very special luncheon filled with tradition and spectacular food. The Dover sole meunière was outstanding, as were the other dishes we tried.

10/10The building is steeped in history and worth a vist. Our service was flawless--friendly, helpful, and professional. The food was excellent in quality with large portions. We ordered from the menu and were served a 5 course meal with an unbelievable cheese course for €65 per person. Don't miss this place.

6/10I am from the USA and in the past have delighted in introducing friends and family to this historical place….over 50 years ago I came at the recommendation of my aunt. If I am in Normandy, I make a point of bringing my friends and family here to experience this historical place… in the past it has always been a wonderful experience until today. I was so disappointed in the service and the food and where I was seated. I had requested seating downstairs in my reservation that was made over a month ago, but yet I was seated upstairs. Our waiter was less than polite… actually snippy and seemed not very interested in making this a wonderful experience for us. The food was not overwhelming, and it was actually not very good. My veal was very tough and hard to chew. We waited a long time between courses and noticed that when the waitor presented the cheese tray to the other tables, they had at least 10 to 12 cheese choices but ours only had 4! Totally disappointed all around.

10/10As a tourist it can be daunting to go to an established restaurant as this and barely speak the language. We found the staff to be warm, helpful and fun. Beyond that the food was excellent and on point.

9/10Food was ver good, but this is the first time I left snubbed as an American. Maître did not check on us, only paid attention to the French people in the restaurant which was about half. Was also the one who had to ring up the tab which after asking took us 40 minutes to get it. Was too busy with the French customers. Julia would be ashamed. This was not a hurried impatience American, we had been their 3 hours already. We were being ignored.

5/10Even with a reservation...,....... Worst table in the restaurant , while many were available. Warm beer. Food was good Waiter didn't care at all about us. The sign said English speaking. We expected more explanation of options and selections. If he spoke English, he chose not to speak. I will not recommend.

A restaurant of great renown that truly lives up to its reputation. From the moment you step inside, you can feel the weight of history in its walls, yet the atmosphere remains welcoming rather than intimidating. The staff are attentive and engaging, striking just the right balance between professionalism and warmth. We chose the seasonal menu, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The most pleasant surprise, however, was its affordability — exceptional quality at a price that makes the experience all the more memorable.

10/10The restaurant is the perfect quintessential French Restaurant . Yes it’s in a touristy location but it rises above and doesn’t let you down It’s classic, I hope it remains that way.
