We really enjoyed our lunch here. We were made exceedingly welcome and were spoken to in excellent English. The escargot were very good indeed to start, followed by excellent confit duck and beef tartare. The chocolate mousse at the end was great too.

Wednesday lunch patio tables were full so we sat inside the cool dining room, listening to soft jazz. Owner Michael is very welcoming -& attentive. We had (1) Entrecote (very tasty) with salad & really hot, crisp frites (2) Duck with excellent ratatouille and nicely roasted potatoes. Shared a caraf of wine & a lemon tarte. Good value & great staff!

Feel like home cook food with restaurant standard! Server and chef are so nice and accommodate. Menu changed everyday, price stays super reasonable, no tourists, a must stop by restaurant whoever come by to Nice. Highly recommended!

A wonderful place in Nice with incredible service from the owner. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone 🙌

La Gargote is a hidden gem in a nondescript courtyard in Nice. The food was simple and excellent. We had poulet forestiere and a duck and lentil dish. Both were flavorful and nicely presented. Dessert was a delicious enormous serving of homemade chocolate mousse. The service was casual and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with the waiter. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a great meal!

Probably the best meal we had during our holidays in July 2025. Make sure to try the tangerine dessert — it’s a must! We’ll definitely be back to this restaurant.

The duck and beef dishes we had were excellent.. Mikael the waiter and owner was fantastic.. nothing was to much trouble.. give this place a go..

La GargoteGood eveningJacques, first of all, we kept our promise to give a 50% discount, we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations, in return, when the waiter explained to you that we only have fresh entrecote, you agreed to order it, when you asked about the children's menu, you preferred to order only a small portion of french fries, and when you ordered a large bottle of sparkling water, you canceled it upon arrival in exchange for one from the tap, we dedicate ourselves 100% to the customer and we hope to do even better in the future! Have a nice evening!

Come and enjoy a relaxing and excellent meal presented by lovely people. One of the best onion soups I’ve had served so you can add as much cheese as you like and the toast when you prefer. The chèvre salad is delicious . The meat is excellent quality cooked perfectly.

Service is lovely, owner is lovely, unfortunately the wish they proudly recommend Aioli, is possibly the worst food I have even had. More appropriate name is “boiling the food to death”

The owner greeted us and made personal suggestions on the menu. It was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious!!! We will come back there next chance we get! Highly recommend it!

The owner was hospitable and very friendly. Unfortunately the talents in the kitchen are nowhere near the owners friendliness and the owner could use a different chef and a different location to be able to reach the 9.5/10 rating of the restaurant had when we booked. We will not be returning and recommend others to seek other restaurants.

I had lunch with my father at this restaurant. We were kindly and warmly welcomed. It is located in the proximity of the main busy streets but calmer and relaxing. The food was just great ! Fresh ingredients and generous portions. We really enjoyed our experience and I can highly recommend it ! Mihai, the owner, and his team are professionals !
