We’ve always dined well at the Mascotte, but last night was ruined by several factors. The service was slow, favouring other tables of people who knew to owners. I asked for a beef tartare with no scallion, nor onion, and it was full of both. I hate wasting food, so I kept my dish, but ultimately couldn’t finish it. My wife found a small worm in her otsyers. The chef and thw waiter had no clues, but acted as it was none of their problems. It took a quick search to realize that they are harmless, and indeed sign of freshness, but it is not how a restaurant should manage such a situation (for the chef’s interest, who declared it was the first time in a 15-year career - not very proficient and prepared, I bet - they are Polychaeta). Since both of us couldn’t finish their dishes (raw onions + indeterminate worms) we asked for a dessert (Paris Brest), which was not fresh.

+2This place was absolutely delicious! My husband was craving oysters and escargot and this was just the right place to have both of them! My husband said the oysters he had were the best he’s had in his life! The cheese platter and dessert was delicious! Definitely recommend for those looking for a seafood night!

An extra champagne wine was opened without us ordering and we were forced to pay for it. Ambience is tight and noisy not enough ventilation

The service definitely made the evening memorable. Everyone was so helpful with recommendations for the wine and the entrees. It was especially notable that they were super helpful even though I speak very little French.

To tell the truth, we don’t like touristic places to eat. But this one we visit the second time . Nothing else can say. Make your conclusions yourself 🤷🏼♂️

Food was excellent. We had the Marcotte Menu with 3 choices and oysters extra. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service was good as well.

The service was great. The sole meunière and steak were just terrible and rubbery. The shrimp was good. I would stick to the raw bar.

Excellent food and service! We enjoyed our lobster and sea bream with a perfected selected white wine to the meal. We will go back here next time we are in Paris

You will be seated next to the bathroom if you are an American even though majority of the restaurant was empty. Seems like they only want business from locals since they were not seated next to the bathroom. Service charge is included in French restaurants but they asked me if I wanted to leave tip which I thought was odd. I would not go back.

The Cesar salad is NOT a Cesar salad. Tomatoes? Egg? Mon dieux! There are countless recipes for Cesar salad. I suggest you follow one. It was such a disappointment.

Everytime I’m in Paris I make it a point to eat here. Get the mussels or the steak tartare, absolutely delicious!

The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The only down side was when the waiter asked me how much I wanted to leave as a tip, which I found embarrassing. This was probably done because we were American.

This was our fourth visit to La Mascotte in three trips to Paris, which tells you how much we love it. Each and every dish on this visit was really exceptional, from the vast oyster platter (with whelks and cockles and clams, too) to the fish soup to smoked haddock atop lentils with a soft-cooked egg. All simply wonderful, and we were given superb treatment by server Nasir. It's worth a trip to Montmartre to dine at this charming spot.
