We’ve always dined well at the Mascotte, but last night was ruined by several factors. The service was slow, favouring other tables of people who knew to owners. I asked for a beef tartare with no scallion, nor onion, and it was full of both. I hate wasting food, so I kept my dish, but ultimately couldn’t finish it. My wife found a small worm in her otsyers. The chef and thw waiter had no clues, but acted as it was none of their problems. It took a quick search to realize that they are harmless, and indeed sign of freshness, but it is not how a restaurant should manage such a situation (for the chef’s interest, who declared it was the first time in a 15-year career - not very proficient and prepared, I bet - they are Polychaeta). Since both of us couldn’t finish their dishes (raw onions + indeterminate worms) we asked for a dessert (Paris Brest), which was not fresh.

+2This place was absolutely delicious! My husband was craving oysters and escargot and this was just the right place to have both of them! My husband said the oysters he had were the best he’s had in his life! The cheese platter and dessert was delicious! Definitely recommend for those looking for a seafood night!

4.5/10An extra champagne wine was opened without us ordering and we were forced to pay for it. Ambience is tight and noisy not enough ventilation

10/10The service definitely made the evening memorable. Everyone was so helpful with recommendations for the wine and the entrees. It was especially notable that they were super helpful even though I speak very little French.
