I think they must have a new chef as haven't been for a couple of years and pleased to say big improvement. Duck was delicious as was my husband's steak. Definitely be back.

La Place came highly recommended by local (French) friends so we were enthusiastic about trying it. The setting is lovely, situated under the shade of tall plane trees in the village square. Food-wise, my gesiers and duck salad (had it as a main) was very good and the scallops were also good - nothing to fault there - the problem was the service. For mysterious reasons, they did their best to ignore us. Polite requests for a class of wine and mayonnaise for the frites were met with thinly-veiled irritation and they had to be reminded multiple times for the mayo. Bread that should have come to the table as standard (as it was for everyone else) never materialised. In essence, the food was pretty good but the attitude of the staff means that we sadly won’t be returning, which is a pity as we had high hopes. Maybe they were having an off day…
