A unique experience. More like being invited to a family dinner than going to a typical restaurant. Restaurant doesn’t seat many more than 20. Nothing is fancy. In addition to our table of five, there was only one long table celebrating a birthday. No written menu. Chef/owner - warm, friendly, and speaking good English - describes what is available. Tonight, it was four for five starters, an equal number of main courses, and three desserts. We had at least one plate of almost everything. It was all at least very good, including some things I would not usually order, such as sardines and tripe. The octopus was especially good. Other winners included a chicken with vegetables and cod. All the plates, which served family style in the middle of the table, were returned empty. All very reasonably priced, as was Uber from Centro and back.

We had the most wonderful dinner here. We are a family of 5 with 3 small children and the proprietor couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. And the food was spectacular! Simply prepared from the freshest of ingredients, we were so impressed by the whole meal. Very highly recommended!

La taberna de Paula exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The food was beyond delicious and the service was above and beyond. The chef truly loves what he does and enjoys sharing his food with the public. We found this place though internet search and thought the reviews couldn’t be all good… well some aren’t even close to describe this place! I’d recommend his food to anyone visiting Madrid.

I read the good review of La Taberna de Paula and wanna to try on our first day at Madrid. It is a small cozy restaurant at a quiet area not far from city centre. I appreciate the way Chef to introduce the menu of the night by himself....you can tell from his introduction of the menu full of expectations and his passion on food. We have a lovely dinner and will recommend friends to go in future.

Excellent traditional Madridien restaurant. We were welcomed on arrival and the chef came over to explain the range of dishes on the menu to us (in Engish). A really great experience if you are looking to sample some typical food of Madrid. We had Mackerel, squid, croquettes, cod, chicken and tripe! Excellent bottle of red too. Not pricey. Highly recommended!

This little restaurant offer authentic Spanish food at an amazing price. No menu, all dishes were artfully described by the chef to our table. We got the octopus, croquetas ibéricas, lomo, chipirones and callos. Everything was spectacular, could not recommend more. If you’re in Madrid, it a must.

Great hospitality from the chef and owne r. We know Madrid well, but were happy for him to recommend dishes. The smoked sardines were excellent as was the tomato and, avocado salad. I would recommend. Quiet, but it was a Monday night. Suspect it's very busy later in the week.

We tried the octopus as starter and the " Calamri " as main dish. Both excellent and full of flavours. The chef welcomed us and explained/suggested what to order. He also made sure that everything is ok and if we are enjoying our time. We also took a very tasty chocolate cake for desert. The staff was verry welcoming to us. We really enjoyed our dinner and had a great time.
