This is a serious Restaurant that takes his diners Seriously. The Services first class, being professional and not too fast and not too slow. The menu is very good if you like food from Northern Italy with an emphasis on various meats. The wine list is also good, with a lot of quality available from.

La Taverna Valtenillesse is a beautiful restaurant in a chalet style with excellent service of foods particular to Valtenilla, a valley in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, bordering Switzerland. So, do not expect a variety of Mediterranean vegetables in the dishes they serve; most dishes come with either polenta or baked potatoes on the side. However, they definitely know how to prepare their meat, and we can definitely recommend the bresaola as a starter with their very good red house wine.

The food was not hot and the roast beef was tasteless, as well as the gravy that it was served with. The lunch specials were too expensive.

We were recommended Taverna Valtellinese by our host and weren’t disappointed… a lovely Alpine inspired Taverna with a nice atmosphere…. Menu extensive with Lombardy regional dishes … good wine list and friendly staff … the pasta were authentic and home made …not a cheap restaurant but a nice treat ..a meal for two with 4 x glasses of wine and shared dessert was €120

We were there in the season for white truffels and had tagiatelli with white truffels. That was an explosion of taste with very good pasta and buttersauce and nice balanced with truffels. The tartar was also very good. -H and E -2025

The menu was interesting having a wide variety of dishes and local specialities. The waiting staff were helpful and the food was as good as described.

The starters were ok, braseola was very good but the tatar had a pink pastele color and slightly acidic taste. Fine, probably not their forte. But then came the main dish (also the waiter to our benefit has misunderstood and brought just one of two main dishes we ordered). 5 thin slices of some meat that tested like a leftover from a wedding. Along with a testeless polenta. Best tasting were the potatos. At least they were fresh. Seems like its a tourist trap now. We paid 75 euro. We laughed it off but really, keep away.

If you like meat superbly cooked and beautifully presented do go here. We had a delicious dinner of venison and veal, all served quickly and efficiently by a very welcoming staff. This is a lovely, traditional restaurant that doesn't rest on its laurels - it was very busy with locals when we visited, which is always a good sign. Highly recommended.

As a food writer and cookery book author, whenever I visit a new place I look for the best of the local, traditional restaurants that have no interest in food fashion, but offer good ingredients prepared as simply as possible so they speak for themselves. And as important, the welcome and service. The staff at the Valtellinese treat their youngest customers with as much warmth and professionalism as they do strangers, tourists, locals. Polenta is a staple dish in Bergamo and it is porcini season. Here, both are cooked so that the soft, slippery texture of the fungi is complemented by the pool of polenta. The buckwheat pasta tossed with a local, melting cheese and flecks of chard is a point: earthy, lactic, wholesome. The ambience is traditional too, wood panelled, high ceilinged, comfortable. All the waiters were warm, professional and clearly enjoying the job they take both seriously and lightly.

Very good food is pretty much the same as the original you eat on the spot in Valtellina. Very well maintained very well prepared. Excellent selection of wines from Valtellina and elsewhere, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and numbers appropriate to the room. Price corresponding to the quality.
