food was ok, nothing exceptional but decent food. service was ok for french standards. you wait to order, pour your own wine, but this is what you get most of the time. personnel was nice. ambiance may be improved as inside feels dated.

The food was excellent,, not necessarily avant-garde, but creative and very tasty. The wine paring was excellent value. The modern design of the restaurant leaves you feeling somewhat cool, as did the service, which was professional and totally correct but lacking in a certain human warmth. In the end, we bring our own warmth, and were very pleased with the evening.

A lovely meal meal at the end of a memorable day in Beaune. We went for the four course option, which was punctuated with 'extras' between courses. The food was tasty, beautifully presented at our table, with my wife's gluten free requirements were carefully and thoughtfully taken into consideration. The staff were both friendly and humorous, and our attempts to speak in French were met with encouragement. Overall an outstanding dining experience, a perfect end to our holiday.

Superb ambience with relaxing decor, gentle background music and excellent service, especially the waiter's knowledge of red wines from the region. Very pleasant selection of amuse-bouches and a satisfying well prepared meal. We enjoyed the crevettes and the oeufs cuits for entrees. Funds permitting, try the Aloxe Corton 2020, a memorable wine (among many on the extensive book of wines typically offered by restaurants in Beaune proudly offering and celebrating their heritage). Have eaten here many times and it is always a lovely experience.

+1My husband and I had lunch there the other day. It was absolutely delicious. It was more like a dinner than lunch though. Multiple courses and nothing casual on the menu. The menu was entirely in French and we struggled through. The waitress spoken English and helped us out. I would absolutely go back again, but probably for dinner not for lunch.

+2A beautiful meal, we opted for the 38/42 euro set menu. Each course was beautifully presented and in addition we were served amouse bouche and an appertiser. Starters were snails served in a crispy edible shell & perfectly cooked poached eggs in a mushroom & ham sauce. We both opted for the Bourgogne Beef which was so tender & delicious, served with potato. Deserts were Crème Brulee. My husband also had the cheese board. Coffee was served with petit fours Service was professional & attentive. Servers were lovely. Highly recommend.

Le Cheval Noir is superb and we had a wonderful evening, enjoying delicious food from the ‘joie de vivre’ set menu. Several other culinary surprises were given to us along the way, all of which were sublime. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Thank you

The young man guided us thru the Wine Menu & helped us choose an excellent bottle. A Pommard! The Food is outstanding. Restaurant design is refreshing.

The choice and quality of food is excellent. The price is reasonable and the wine list is fantastic. The staff are very professional and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend Le Cheval Noir.

This is a gem of a restaurant - the frontage gives no hint of how smart the interior and dining terrace are. We had a delightful meal, served by staff who were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We loved it!

This was our first visit. We thought the choice of food was excellent. Our meal was superb. We had the heritage tomatoes, followed by the monkfish. The choice of cheeses was really good and our dessert with raspberries and strawberries was delicious. We had an amazing bottle of wine which was quite expensive but worth every penny. We would recommend Le Cheval Noir without hesitation. We will be returning.

A truly special place not to miss while in Beaune. The monkfish stood out as exceptional. And cheese selection.

Really great food, high quality and "value for money" . And the service at the restaurant was exceptionel!

We can’t say enough good things about Le Cheval Noir. Everything was delicious, you could tell they had cooked the beef bourguignon for 12 hours, it cut like butter with a sauce that we will remember for a long time. We started with burgundy snails and eggs cooked to 65 degrees in a meurette sauce. Both were exceptionally good. The service was great, attentive but not pushy. The restaurant was full but the atmosphere allowed you to have nice quiet conversations.

Our dinner at Le Cheval Noir was one of the most memorable dinners we had in our time in France! From the consistency in quality of the food to the outstanding service and advice regarding wine paring, we could not have asked for more. We cannot recommend this establishment any more highly and will certainly return.

Excellent food & value for money. We much enjoyed our evening.

Convenient location, cozy service.I enjoyed the local cuisine of Burgundy. The number of hall staff seemed insufficient, but the staff seemed to be working among themselves.

Food was very tasty. My husband claims food here tastes better than the one we had in a Michelin restaurant in Lyon.

Excellent quality food at reasonable price (for Beaune, which is quite pricey in general). Service was excellent.

Just a great relaxing experience. Great food, wine and service. Not our first time here and it won't be our last.

Cheval Noir in Beaune is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. From the moment we stepped in, the warm ambiance and attentive service set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu showcases the best of Burgundy’s rich culinary heritage, but two dishes stood out above the rest. The **Eggs Meursault** were a revelation. Perfectly cooked, the eggs were creamy and rich, with the exquisite Meursault wine sauce elevating the dish to new heights. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that lingered long after the plate was cleared. Equally impressive was the **Crunchy Escargot**. A delightful twist on a classic, the escargot was perfectly tender, encased in a crispy shell that added the perfect textural contrast. The flavors were bold yet balanced, making it a dish that’s hard to forget. Cheval Noir is a must-visit for anyone in Beaune, whether you're a local or a visitor.

The service was impeccable, the staff really helpful. The food was incroyable.. we both opted for each of the set menus and each dish out did each other. The cook on the dishes were perfect and the flavours shone through. We chose the wine pairing menu to accompany our dishes and each wine suggested paired perfectly with the chosen dishes. We could not fault this restaurant and would highly recommend. If you are in Beaune you could not do better than to pay a visit to Le Cheval Noir

We ate here last year on the way back from The Alpes and our second visit did not disappoint. Delicious food beautifully presented and excellent value. The tables in the restaurant are well spaced and it has a lovely ambience. Our only disappointment was that it was not open when we passed through in early January!

Le Cheval Noir lived up to my expectations. The food was excellent as were the Burgundy wines. Attentive service too.

Fantastic 1st course and briliant wine pairing. Service on highest level as well.

Very good upscale restaurant. Clear Bourgogne theme but well personalised. Delicious and good value.

We had a great evening here which was incredibly good value for money. The food was excellent and, as expected in Beaune, the wine list was brilliant. Friendly staff, most of whom spoke good enough english to be able to translate the menu and express their obvious enthusiasm for their dishes. We shall definitely try and book here again when we are passing through.

The first course of foie gras was excellent, followed by a decent albeit a bit chewy sirloin. The cheese was all fine as well as the original dessert with figs. The local wine was a good companion too. Service was correct overall. A treat to be repeated the next time we are in Beaune
