This gem, located on Ile St Louis, is a sensational dining experience! We are so lucky to have stumbled across it after our Notre Dame visit (the mostly pedestrian cobblestone island is located just behind it). The meticulous attention to detail of every course is experienced with every bite. The big highlights were the melt in your mouth Turbot (white fish) and Cerf frotté (steak). The desserts are a work of art - true mouthwatering masterpieces of creativity. I hesitate to share this review because it feels like a beautifully designed neighborhood secret. Everyone spoke French around us, and it felt like we discovered a hidden treasure.

6/10This is the second time at Le Sergent Recruteur (prior dinner in 2014). We went for lunch on 12/7/24 and Chef Alain Pegouret created lovely haute dishes. The food was divine. However the experienced stopped there ... having 2 servers sweating like bullets, barely holding it together and plopping our food down (no after dinner coffee or drinks or anything but the check?) ... was subpar. I am sorry they were short-staffed that day, I am sorry the Notre-Dame opening caused chaos around the city that weekend, I am sorry we had high expectations as were repeat customers, but the atmosphere in 2014 was lovely, delicious and fun with a depth of flavors and this was a borderline shit-show getting the food from the kitchen to the table. Chef Pegouret needs to review his whole package .... our experience at FIEF was fun as was Kei (a whole other level), but we are going to pass on encouraging our friends from visiting Le Sergent Recruteur and it will not be on our next stop in Paris.

+5the foie gras is the best thing i have ever eaten and a chef's specialty. all of the savory food was amazing, from fish to meat. the sauce chef is a master and all of his preparations are masterpieces. sweet food on the other hand was not to my liking. it looked complex and was well executed but was not as enjoyable as the starters or the entrees. i would come back but get dessert some place else.

9.5/10Solo and couple diners - beware the green alcove. The food was impeccable, delicious, and creative. Service was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for more in those departments. However, as previous reviews I have read warned, there is a table/seat that is horrendous and I had the displeasure of experiencing it (I took a chance). The green alcove seat (the only one in the house) is deeply recessed, forcing you to sit on the edge of your seat with barely enough room for your arms to move about freely when eating. It also faces another (extremely close) table and the back of the house. The only redeeming aspect is you can witness the chefs working their magic (if that’s what you may be interested in). Unsure if I will return.

5/10The stars were not aligned for our experience at Le Sergent Recruteur. We take pleasure in reviewing the wine list and selecting a bottle to pair with our meal. We had a few suggestions in mind and asked the sommelier for feedback. The response was rushed and resulted in the suggestion of a good wine with a 450% mark up. The bottle arrived on our table a few minutes later, opened with no cork to inspect. Never presented to us. One of our meals was the special, a slow cooked white rabbit with risotto. The first bite was dense and salty. The taste improved when the risotto, presented in a side dish, was mixed into the dense rabbit sauce. Hopefully, the stars will align for future diners at Le Sergent Recruteur, but for now our forecast is cloudy with a chance of rain.

8.5/10Charming restuart in the hear of Isle Saint Louis. Went for lunch and it wasn't crowded, so I had a nice environment to eat and write. I thought the food was very creative, and certainly offered twists on some classic dishes which you don't find at many French restaurants in Paris. In some cases it might have been too creative, and tried to combine too many ideas into a single dish. Service and wine were both excellent, just may benefit from editing down some dishes to keep them focused.

10/10We were greeted in a warm and welcoming manner. The ambiance in restaurant is pretty inviting making one feel relaxed right away. We had duck foie gras, absolutely delicious! My husband had roasted lamb and I the roasted poultry. Each were truly what you would expect at a Michelin restaurant but also much superior to similar establishments with the same rating. The presentation was enticing in itself but the scrumptiously divine taste made it perfect. In between courses we were presented with delightful amuse-bouche. Let me add that the wine selection was ample and varied. We are so pleased that we were able to enjoy such a wonderful French meal in this superb restaurant. We highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a superb dining experience. Also service was gentil and professional. CHEERS

The service was 5 Star, the food was exceptional. The complexity and artistry that went into each course was impressive, and a journey for your tastebuds. The wine pairing absolutely made the meal even more elevated. This restaurant is a top tier establishment and definitely worthy of its Michelin Star Rating.

We even bought pots of the chef’s special mackerel paste to enjoy back in the UK. Well worth a visit if you would like to explore Paris’ Culinary delights.

9/10A lovely restaurant and fantastic food. A modern aesthetic and atmosphere throughout let down a little by toilets being a little worse for wear. The staff however were kind and reasonably attentive without being intrusive. I would return quite happily.

+8We randomly picked this Michelin 1-star restaurant for our final night’s dinner in Paris and we were so happy about our choice. Excellent food and great service! We were warmly welcomed by the team. Each dish is beautifully garnished and you can taste various flavors in one dish which is very rare in other restaurants…I call it harmony!!!! Would love to return again in our next trip to Paris!

10/10The visit started a bit rocky because the restaurant did not have the first two entrée items listed on the daily menu. After consulting with the manager Gactan we found an outstanding meal option. The entire menu was outstanding, and the service was top notch. Gactan was a gem!!

10/10The staff was incredible! We felt welcomed the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is friendly yet professional. There was laughing and pictures being taken. The talking level is higher than other Michelin restaurants and it makes it feel warm and comfortable. The food was outstanding - beautifully presented by the chef and kitchen staff as well as the wait staff. We got the pairing menu and every dish was perfectly paired with its wine. I look forward to going back.

9.5/10My wife and I had the 3-stroke lunch ("Formule") menu: entrees and main courses were aestheticaly well presented and pleasant in flavors; even though the "assortiment de fromage" maintained the usual French quality, their "Le Classique" didn't keep the standard. As to our choice of wine I should point that the house had run out of our first choice (a Pouilly-Fumé). We chose a second brand (another Sauvignon Blanc), but finally were served a third brand ("from the same region", as the Sommelier pointed out): the wine did well harmonize with our dishes, even though being of a different strain..., and a much higher price (by the way: prices on the wines seem to be around 3 times what you would pay on the regular market).
