6/10My dessert was delicious but the entree with relatively thick slices of dry mushrooms on top of a pile of pearl couscous and some scallop foam (I think) on the side was a monochromatic pile of practically tasteless items. Definitely not worthy of a 1 star restaurant. My main course of fish was fresh but not memorable. I would really rethink those items. Also, presentation was not great. The items and plating had little to no decor, thus contributing even more to the “has anyone really examined this” feeling. Service and ambiance were good. Redoing some of the menu is recommended.

6/10I was looking for an outstanding meal and was very disappointed. We chose the multi course lunch. The appetizer was never served, the amuse bouche was a soup like mixture with noodles and a slice of veal on top that was supposed to be warm not hot but was actually cool at its center. The chef apologized. The raw scallops with sliced carrots were tasteless. Oysters were substituted for mussels in the another course. The mango pallet cleanser was thankfully substituted for the

10/10Good selection of varied options on the menu. Also accommodated gluten free for the majority of the dishes. Service was great with strong attention to detail. We had reservations, don't know if that was required or not but the restaurant was full on a Wednesday night. Definitely recommend.

Amuse bouche delicious spread with toasts. 3 courses, first a tomato with smoked eel, figs, cheese wonderful, then salmon , julienne veggies, beef, broth,emulsion, tempura, delightful texture s and flavors. Our "last night" dinner, staying on Ile St. Louis. The maitre'd was kind and welcoming and sat us with a great view of the kitchen (if you love watching chefs). We had the 5 course tasting menu with added wine pairing - something we always appreciate. First, a plump muscle sitting atop a bowl of mouse with teeny frites. The muscle was great, but I couldn't eat the mouse as it was just the beginning! An amuse bouche should be only a "bite" of delicious. Then came smoked mackerel with finger toasts. I could have eaten it all. It was wonderful, but again, too much. Swordfish ceviche w caviar was a dream - and beautifully plated with tiny petals on citrus sauce. The girolles were also excellent, and grilled almonds a lovely addition. Poultry with black garlic, perfectly executed and the cherry desert, just heaven. Service was uneven though, attentive at first, and as it got busier, we were left waiting. Not even offered coffee. I would skip the wine pairing. Worth a visit. They'll grow.

We must admit that your review stands in stark contrast to the overwhelming majority of feedback we receive — which consistently highlights the precision of our flavors and the high quality of our cuisine. That said, your review omits important context. From the moment you arrived, both you and "your guest" displayed disrespectful behavior toward our team — mocking our servers and speaking to them inappropriately. You demanded “the best table” based on an email you allegedly sent, which we never received — did you truly send it? It’s difficult not to read your review as a form of retaliation for not being given what you considered a “prestigious” seat. If your visit was merely a performance to impress your "companion", perhaps it would be wise to refine your palate before reviewing restaurants of this standard. This gem, located on Ile St Louis, is a sensational dining experience! We are so lucky to have stumbled across it after our Notre Dame visit (the mostly pedestrian cobblestone island is located just behind it). The meticulous attention to detail of every course is experienced with every bite. The big highlights were the melt in your mouth Turbot (white fish) and Cerf frotté (steak). The desserts are a work of art - true mouthwatering masterpieces of creativity. I hesitate to share this review because it feels like a beautifully designed neighborhood secret. Everyone spoke French around us, and it felt like we discovered a hidden treasure.

6/10This is the second time at Le Sergent Recruteur (prior dinner in 2014). We went for lunch on 12/7/24 and Chef Alain Pegouret created lovely haute dishes. The food was divine. However the experienced stopped there ... having 2 servers sweating like bullets, barely holding it together and plopping our food down (no after dinner coffee or drinks or anything but the check?) ... was subpar. I am sorry they were short-staffed that day, I am sorry the Notre-Dame opening caused chaos around the city that weekend, I am sorry we had high expectations as were repeat customers, but the atmosphere in 2014 was lovely, delicious and fun with a depth of flavors and this was a borderline shit-show getting the food from the kitchen to the table. Chef Pegouret needs to review his whole package .... our experience at FIEF was fun as was Kei (a whole other level), but we are going to pass on encouraging our friends from visiting Le Sergent Recruteur and it will not be on our next stop in Paris.

+5the foie gras is the best thing i have ever eaten and a chef's specialty. all of the savory food was amazing, from fish to meat. the sauce chef is a master and all of his preparations are masterpieces. sweet food on the other hand was not to my liking. it looked complex and was well executed but was not as enjoyable as the starters or the entrees. i would come back but get dessert some place else.

9.5/10Solo and couple diners - beware the green alcove. The food was impeccable, delicious, and creative. Service was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for more in those departments. However, as previous reviews I have read warned, there is a table/seat that is horrendous and I had the displeasure of experiencing it (I took a chance). The green alcove seat (the only one in the house) is deeply recessed, forcing you to sit on the edge of your seat with barely enough room for your arms to move about freely when eating. It also faces another (extremely close) table and the back of the house. The only redeeming aspect is you can witness the chefs working their magic (if that’s what you may be interested in). Unsure if I will return.

5/10The stars were not aligned for our experience at Le Sergent Recruteur. We take pleasure in reviewing the wine list and selecting a bottle to pair with our meal. We had a few suggestions in mind and asked the sommelier for feedback. The response was rushed and resulted in the suggestion of a good wine with a 450% mark up. The bottle arrived on our table a few minutes later, opened with no cork to inspect. Never presented to us. One of our meals was the special, a slow cooked white rabbit with risotto. The first bite was dense and salty. The taste improved when the risotto, presented in a side dish, was mixed into the dense rabbit sauce. Hopefully, the stars will align for future diners at Le Sergent Recruteur, but for now our forecast is cloudy with a chance of rain.
