6.5/10Initial impression… impressed. We were slightly early but that wasn’t a problem. Nice table under cover outside. One of the waiters assisted with choosing from the menu. Starters came quickly. Soufflé very bland. Main course - Suckling pig, fat was not crispy. Turbot was pleasant but bland. Food was well presented but there was no texture; even the sauté potatoes were soggy. We declined a dessert and shortly afterwards, a different waiter picked up our bottle of white wine and with a comment along the lines of you can’t leave that, started to share it between our glasses. This was done very casually and there was obviously more than he thought, so quite a lot of the wine ended up on the table. We left feeling underwhelmed and rather disappointed.

9.5/10My husband and I used to visit Lo Stornello for many years, so on my first return to Stresa after six years I wanted to go back. And the same delightful people are there, providing a friendly and excellent service, the food is wonderful and with a table outside, it is a good spot for people watching. A gem hidden in plain view.

9.5/10Interesting preparations with very attractive presentations. Very convivial service. Excellent varied wine list with a wide selection of very good wines at under 6 Euros per glass. That is pretty amazing. Bottle prices were very well valued as well. Would definitely recommend a visit.

4.5/10Welcoming was nice as they knew our names from the reservation. Read we received didn’t really seem fresh and there was no olive oil or so. Food we ordered was good but pricey in relation to other restaurants in the area. Plus, it was partially cold. This is not the standard we expected and which really disappointed us. Wine instead was really good, so was the dessert. Service was ok but nothing special. Waiter never refilled glasses.

I ordered medium rare meat and got well done… I didn't get a clear answer to my comment to the waiter as to why. It seems to me that the restaurant's rating regarding the quality of food is greatly overrated.

9.5/10Deservedly popular restaurant with great choices and quality dishes. Essential to book for restaurant but they have an area across the alley for heated out door dining and were accepting some walk-ins.

2/10Our ordered meal arrived 40 minutes later. My choice (veal was raw). Asked for the manager who attended reasonably promptly and agreed with what we said. An extremely rude member of staff who actually laughed for some unexplained reason when I complained initially. Never again. Booked this on previous good reviews.

8/10A bit more explanation of the dishes would’ve been good and as we were outside there was a guy who smoked 3 cigarettes right beside our table, not much could be done about this inconsiderate individual who wasn’t at the restaurant.

10/10The chef is clearly a food artist. Each dish was surprising in presentation and taste. The combination of ingredients elevated a common dish to a new level. The service was attentive, pleasant and helpful. We sat on the out door patio which was enjoyable.

9.5/10Portion sizes were perfect for trying a lot of dishes, sharing some, keeping others all for myself. Eggplant flan, Ravioli and lamb were my favorites. Servers were attentive but not overbearing. Pace was just right.

10/10Great evening with excellent value dinner. Attentive waiters also with family including one child on special diet (we brought ourselves). A most enjoyable last evening in Stresa and by far the best meal we have eaten here.

9.5/10This beautiful restaurant was a great discovery. The food was delicate and delicious, especially the beef steak, which was medium rare and exquisitely tender. The recommended red wine was also perfect. I recommend making a reservation.
