The imaginative, delicious and well priced menu, the very friendly, fun staff and the ambiance were so great that we came to Lo Stornello 3 nights in a row!! And we loved the wine too! Thank you for looking after us so well.

Great food, nice surroundings but the waiter exaggerated with the wine recommendation. When most wines by the glass are 4.5 euros if you are going to recommend a wine at least make the customer aware that it is a 9.5 euro glass (60€ bottle). Other than this I can recommend.

+1We just enjoyed an amazing (Thanksgiving night) meal in the lovely city of Stresa, Italy. Just a few minutes walk from our room, we found @ristorantelostornellostresa, the perfect choice. We started with 1. Piedmontese beef tartare with hazelnut cream and local cheese fondue 2. Potato gnocchi** scented with porcini** mushrooms, veal reduction, pumpkin, mountain pine powder and Vigezzo Valley pancetta 3. Veal loin cooked at low temperature and sautéed in aromatic butter, lard-based condiment with parsley, smoked potatoes gratinated with Bettelmatt cheese 4. Semifreddo forest bianca with white chocolate, fresh currants, raspberries, blackberries and gooseberries 5. A very decent restaurant overall

Lo Stornello continues to impress with its consistently high-quality cuisine and warm, professional service. The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, making it perfect for an evening in Stresa. Each dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, showcasing both creativity and respect for local ingredients. The wine list remains excellent, with thoughtful pairings that elevate the meal. A reliable favorite and a restaurant we’ll happily return to again.

An epic meal! This restaurant, which provides fine dining in a bistro setting, is totally deserving of its Michelin accolades. Every dish in every course was special and superb. My first course – a mushroom soup with chestnuts – was probably the best soup I have ever tasted. There is a section of the menu devoted to vegetarian offerings, and the beetroot felafel did not disappoint. The semifreddo with cherries was the perfect ending to a perfect menu. The waitstaff were all friendly and knowledgeable and recommended an excellent wine. Given the high quality of the dining experience, we were also pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price for such fantastic food.

The service is very bad, even rude, and the food is not remarkable. So, I wouldn’t come back to this restaurant.

We have been in Stresa for nearly a week and this is the best restaurant so far. Nice location with outside seating, excellent food and good service.

It was great service, very good wine and dessert. We did order for main course veal and entrecot, they were to chew.

The service was wonderful, especially Domenico. They were attentive without being pushy. Very friendly and very professional. The dorata was perfect, as was the riso. The homemade gnocchi was delicious with just the right amount of sauce.

Delicious food, not rushed and able to enjoy the evening. Presentation of each dish was beautiful.

Initial impression… impressed. We were slightly early but that wasn’t a problem. Nice table under cover outside. One of the waiters assisted with choosing from the menu. Starters came quickly. Soufflé very bland. Main course - Suckling pig, fat was not crispy. Turbot was pleasant but bland. Food was well presented but there was no texture; even the sauté potatoes were soggy. We declined a dessert and shortly afterwards, a different waiter picked up our bottle of white wine and with a comment along the lines of you can’t leave that, started to share it between our glasses. This was done very casually and there was obviously more than he thought, so quite a lot of the wine ended up on the table. We left feeling underwhelmed and rather disappointed.

My husband and I used to visit Lo Stornello for many years, so on my first return to Stresa after six years I wanted to go back. And the same delightful people are there, providing a friendly and excellent service, the food is wonderful and with a table outside, it is a good spot for people watching. A gem hidden in plain view.

Interesting preparations with very attractive presentations. Very convivial service. Excellent varied wine list with a wide selection of very good wines at under 6 Euros per glass. That is pretty amazing. Bottle prices were very well valued as well. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Welcoming was nice as they knew our names from the reservation. Read we received didn’t really seem fresh and there was no olive oil or so. Food we ordered was good but pricey in relation to other restaurants in the area. Plus, it was partially cold. This is not the standard we expected and which really disappointed us. Wine instead was really good, so was the dessert. Service was ok but nothing special. Waiter never refilled glasses.

my husband ordered the steak and it was grisly. we went here because it said michelin rated but it was def not close to that. it was good but not great.

I ordered medium rare meat and got well done… I didn't get a clear answer to my comment to the waiter as to why. It seems to me that the restaurant's rating regarding the quality of food is greatly overrated.

Great meal, had fish mains and a desert. Food was impeccable and lovely service. Home made limoncello to round off the night. Have recommended to lots of friends staying in Stresa!

Deservedly popular restaurant with great choices and quality dishes. Essential to book for restaurant but they have an area across the alley for heated out door dining and were accepting some walk-ins.

Food was lovely. Service was rushed and indifferent. Really sad as we were really looking forward to this. Probably wouldn’t go back in all honesty.

We bookes a table for 6 but got a table for 4. They easily changed to 6, but it was a bit small. Took to long time to order and get the food
