We followed the recommendations provided, and overall the experience was satisfactory, with the exception of the main course. We were informed that the Iberian pork was unavailable and were instead recommended the tuna belly by the senior staff member. However, the dish served was not tuna belly. When I later asked the senior staff whether there may have been an error on the menu, I was informed that the dish was in fact tuna loin, not belly, due to other considerations. The senior staff also stated that they believed this substitution had been clearly communicated to us prior to ordering, which was not the case.

Food and ambiance were excellent. Kitchen and front of house staff were energized and made the guests feel welcome. Was a great experience and good for top shelf ! Razor clams and the octopus with beans were a perfect winter meal! Will be back again some day.

One of my perennial favorites, O Frade never disappoints and I love introducing it to friends who have never been. This evening the standout was the Cataplana, but the lingueirão are also always delicious. We shared the Turbot accented with leeks and fennel, and finished with the sublime walnut cake - Can’t wait to return next month.

From the moment my family sat down, we were taken care of very well by all the staff. Tight and quick service and extra attention to detail at every step! Every plate was stunning and it was a treat to watch it all come together with the open concept table. Linguada rissoes so good that my partner (who doesn't enjoy shellfish) went for seconds and my mother-in-law ordered more to take home! The tuna belly, oxtail, and polvo feijoada were excuisite. We will definitely be back 😁

The dining experience was overall mediocre. The food tasted standard but wasn't anything special, and the atmosphere was just average. The restrooms were also quite narrow and uncomfortable. What bothered me most was the billing transparency. I ordered drinks and was charged a mandatory tip (service charge) without being informed beforehand. I think customers should be notified about this in advance.

Food was good but nothing special. Over priced for what it was. The waitress was great very attentive and the food came quickly. At the table next to us a family kept playing videos on their phone - at first for their children and then later the dad and son were watching a football match with the sound on loudly. While of course this isn’t the restaurants fault it’s something that should be address. Fine but won’t be rushing back.

Wonderful meal after a long day walking through Belem! Andre and staff navigate the open kitchen and serving area with grace — it is entertaining to watch the process as food is plated & served. 👏👏 The interior is cozy and welcoming like a local restaurant where you are welcomed on the regular yet it was our first full day in Lisbon. The highlight for us was the oxtail dish with the duck rice coming in a close second. We are only here for 10 full days & although this is our first dinner in Lisbon we are very tempted to make reservations for a second meal.

The first thing that didn’t go well is that or table wasn’t ready, so we had to wait for almost 20 minutes despite having a reservation. The second thing that didn’t go well, was that they were out of half the dishes in the menu! Even the cheeseboard which is ridiculous. And above that, the wines listed in the menu were from different years as the ones they actually had… Having said that, the food was nice and the staff was friendly, but there is much to improve!

A restaurant where you eat well, with a fairly short but interesting menu. The only slight downside would be the desserts — a little less sugar, especially in the chocolate mousse, would be perfect. The service is discreet and friendly, and the wine selection is quite interesting. We had been here before, and we’ll definitely come back again.

Dining at O Frade was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The restaurant combines a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with dishes that truly capture the essence of Portuguese cuisine. The octopus was tender, perfectly grilled, and had a wonderful smoky taste that showed real attention to detail. Dishes varied in quality from good to excellent. The octopus stew was excellent. Busy with mostly tourists (likely due to inflated trip advisor ratings). Price was high for the area with dishes approximately 20E and a dinner for two 120E.
