The food was crazy good and the waiter and waitresses there were extremely sociable. They all also spoke English which was great. I ordered the egg truffle bacon starter, angus beef carpaccio with baked potatoes side, and the tiramisu. It was all great and would highly recommend. So far this is the best place I ate at during my trip and would come back again 100 percent on my next visit to Florence.

The food, the ambience, and the friendly wait staff were excellent. We visited in early December and the temps were in the low 40’s F. We enjoyed their hearty ribollita (tomatoe and bread soup) as well as the Osso Buco with a nice Chianti Classico. Highly recommend for a quality meal that won’t break the bank!

Everything about Osteria Vecchio Cancello was wonderful. When you walk in, you feel you are at home. Our waiter was professional, attentive and friendly. The food was presented artfully and delicious. This was our second visit. We also recommend to friends who visit Florence. It is out of the way of the historic district but way out of the ordinary. Try it!

The view was nice. But limited menu and multiple dishes were one dimensional and lacked variety. For example, we ordered truffle pasta and gnocchi and both came with exact ingredients. Also, we were not informed of 15 euro additional price for white truffles when dish was named truffle pasta and Truffle gnocchi. They did have an extensive wine list, which was nice.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Loved what they recommended, liver on the toast were very surprised delicious. The T-bone was also lovely, just too much for two people. We have to ate fast in order to avoid it getting cold, felt a bit pressure

Everything was excellent and the price was very reasonable. The only downside was that the restaurant had no record of the Fork booking. They said that they had had some problems with Fork bookings. However, they fitted us in and looked after us royally.

Birthday lunch at the world famous restaurant Osteria Vecchio Cancello in downtown Firenze. We order the traditional Bistecca alla fiorentina and a excellent Chianti wine. The starter was bruschetta tradizionale di Toscani and for dessert a tiramisù worthy of the Gods. Great place

The food was delicious and the limoncello was a nice treat at the end After we were seated and ordered water- another table that came in after us got their water and bread first. We never received our water or bread. Which was fine. Wasn’t bad- but also not the greatest.

I saw many comments in the internet before we go. The meat seems perfect but the taste is not it is disappointment for us. The next day we went to another local restaurant to eat florentine steak and we saw the difference.
