Brilliant meal and different to the standard food you get in most restaurants across Tavira. Our new favourite place to go to each trip. Food is cooked over a wood fire, both fish and meat options were delicious.

Have dined here twice both times we were in Tavira. The service is as outstanding as the food.

Reception was OK, door was locked and had to be allowed access. Once in and at table service was OK. No gluten free Covert (not unusual) but main dishes were pretty good for the three of us. Wine was expensive for the Algarve, don’t know why some restaurants decided to charge more than average UK prices when you can get a good bottle of wine for less than €5 in the top supermarkets ( average bottle for €2) yet €25 in this restaurant?. Service was very good, lots of interaction with the young staff team who were clearly supported to chat to diners. All in all a good meal but unnecessarily expensive and a strange entry and exit process!

We kindly ask guests to inform our team of any dietary requirements, as our staff are always happy to accommodate these requests. Concerning our wine selection, we focus on curated wines rather than supermarket labels. Our pricing reflects not only the quality and origin of the wines, but also professional storage, handling, and service, which we believe are an important part of the overall dining experience. As for the entrance, the door is kept closed at times due to winds and the power of our kitchen extraction system, which ensures a comfortable environment inside the restaurant. During warmer months, the door remains open to welcome our guests more openly. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future and providing an even more enjoyable experience. Tiago

A great new restaurant in the centre of old town Tavira. Staff were friendly and efficient. Hubby loved his lamb shank and especially the rice! My fish of the day was good without being exceptional. Nice vibe…comfy and a little more tastefully decorated than most local restaurants. We enjoyed it!

Our party of four enjoyed their evening. Good food and friendly service marred only by two or three forgetful slips.

Dined here on the first and last day of our holiday. The food was excellent and the staff went the extra mile to make our visit special especially for our little girl.

We all had an excellent meal, everything was perfect! This is a relatively new restaurant and so far everything about it has exceeded our expectations every time - the food, ambience and service cannot be faulted.

We loved the sea bass and the tarte tatin but our friend wasn’t keen on the cheesecake. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

A delightful dinner with friends. Very warm and accommodating service. Good wine and food selection. This is the second time in a month we had split the turbot for 2 and excellent yet again. The Basque cheesecake for dessert is a winner! Slightly smoky and rich but perfect. Thanks to the Primitivo staff for a wonderful evening.

This was our third visit in as many weeks, so we have tried most of the menu and quite a few wines from their list. Everything has been spot on, the service is unobtrusive but efficient and the tables layout seems to ensure a pleasant experience with minimum noise from other diners. We will definitely return.

The warm hospitality coupled with a reasonably priced menu offering diverse choices prepared to perfection made my dining experience memorable; so much that we ate there twice during an 8 day visit to Tavira.

The location is great, just of the main street and therefore a little quieter. Inside is very pleasant with a nice atmosphere. They have an outside terrace which is lovely in the summer, but in the winter the inside is super cosy, warm and comfortable. The staff know what they are doing and are very attentive without being intrusive. If you are unsure ask them and they will help. They did not have our choice for starter but made some very good suggestions for alternatives. Our meal was excellent and we will return again, soon.
