10/10Outstanding restaurant in lovely spot close to one of the bridges in the heart of Petite France. Incredible food and exceptional service. Without a doubt the best meal I had in Strasbourg. Cost was high but for a true gourmet meal you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny.

10/10The hostess was very gracious and explaining the menu to us, as our French is not that great. Food is gorgeously presented and tastes wonderful. They specialize in red meat dishes, I would say.

Ideally placed at the heart of the famous Petite France district, two steps away from the "Pont Faisan" bridge, "L'Oignon" is an institution of Strasbourg's gastronomy. Historically, it was the place where people would meet during the night to eat local, traditional dishes, and more specifically onion soup, hence the name. Today, the restaurant is the meeting place for gastronomes and amateurs of fine wine alike. Rib of beef, Beef Carpaccio with Truffle Oil are amongst the dishes proposed that will tantalize your taste buds. The chef and staff will take you on a gastronomic journey in an exceptional setting. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, from Wednesdays to Sundays.
