My meal felt it had been heating up all day: dry caramelised - not in a good way - over cooked cottage pie (Grandmas menu if I remember) My partners meal underwhelming too. I’m left wondering how people rated this venue as consistently high. Our food was mediocre. Staff and ambiance were good though - so our first Amsterdam evening was rescued - just!

While the staff were very nice, the food was very disappointing. I had Menu 2 - casserole with mashed potatoes. There was only a very very thin layer of ground beef on the bottom. It was mostly just mashed potatoes and cheese. And the oil they used to make this dish tasted rancid which gave it an unpleasant taste. My husband had Menu I with hutspot, kale and sauerkraut mash. Don’t expect these three flavors to jump out. They are basically potato balls in different colors. The main ingredient of these balls is potato. Desserts were nothing to write home about. All in all it felt like this place was overhyped. The only positive was the staff who were very kind.

We visit Amsterdam on a regular basis both to visit family and to enjoy the city. One place that we include each and every time we are in the city is The Pantry. The food is authentic Dutch food that tastes great, the service is top notch and the atmosphere is wonderful! Make sure to make a reservation or you will spend some time waiting for a table!

It was my second visit of "The Pantry" and I had a reservation. For authentic Dutch quisine experience (at least how I expect it) at a mid-price range, I find this place just fantastic. The food is great (I took one of the three course menues), the beers tasty, the ambience rustic with an eye for details and especially the service and the staff is very friendly and professional. I think the waiters were the same as my last visit a year ago and I felt that they really like their job. I Since the place is quite small, the tables are relatively close to each other. It didnt bother me, but for others this might be bothersome.

I had high expectations for this restaurant after reading the reviews of other patrons. The ambiance was pleasant and promising. However, the food was, at best, mediocre. We were quite disappointed. The service was prompt, and the personnel were helpful. However, we felt rather rushed to finish our meal, presumably to accommodate more customers. I had made the reservation three weeks in advance and was anticipating that we would have ample time at our disposal. I was mistaken; we were encouraged to conclude our dining experience as quickly as possible, which made the overall experience rather unpleasant.

Loved the cozy atmosphere. Food was exactly as advertised. Great Dutch home cooking. I had the Hutsput & meatball. Fabulous. My husband had the Dutch steak & it was really good. Too stuffed to eat dessert! Staff was friendly & accommodating. We accidentally came at 6:30 for a 7pm dinner. Were graciously seated early.

Excellent food, great service. We were quickly sat for our reservation. The choices were perfect for our set menu and great value. There was a large queue outside but was unsure if they took walk ins as it was fully booked when we looked. We booked a number of weeks before and there was only 5.30 or 9.30 available. Highly recommended
