My wife and I had a wonderful and surprising lunch at Restaurante Familia, at first we were a bit hesitant since we have never tried Ukrainian food before but what a great surprise it turned out to be. The Borscht (beetroot-based soup) was rich in flavorful, and both of our main dishes the Salmon risotto and the Bograch were absolutely fantastic. Javier the true Star of the Million was the fried Varenyky, it was so delicious that we almost ordered another plate, but we were already full. The restaurant itself is cozy, the prices are fair, and the service is gentle and humble giving it a genuine homemade feel. We will definitely be coming back, it's a gem worth revisiting!

10/10Authentic Ukrainian cuisine with gourmet touches. The Vareniky is delicious, as is the Halubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls). Try the Kyiv cake - it’s amazing! Ambience is charming. Great find in Coimbra.

5.5/10Service was polite and attentive. Ordered cod with mussels and grilled corn - more than 50 bones in the fish which made it difficult to enjoy. Partner ordered cabbage rolls - very bland and mushy texture. 30% off via The Fork was honoured. Overall disappointing.

+2I liked this restaurant so much that I ate there twice! The ambiance is nice, the service is good and so is the food. I tried the Borscht soup, the mushroom soup, the Chicken Kyviv and the stuffed cabbage rolls over the two nights...all quite good!

I had a great experience at Familia, a beautiful Ukrainian restaurant with a minimalist interior full of flowers. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, and the service was fast and polite. Our waiter was very attentive and professional. The food was the real highlight. The chef’s specialties, Beef Wellington and Chanfana, were absolutely amazing. I also loved the traditional Chicken Kyiv, perfectly crispy and flavorful. For dessert, the Kyiv Cake was light, nutty, and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended for anyone who loves quality food and a relaxing dining experience.

I discovered this newly opened restaurant in a quiet alley in the old sector of Coimbra. The gentleman who greeted me was most helpful and gave me advice on the dishes. I chose the Seafood Odesa Soup. Together with bread, olives and cheese, it was a hearty, delicious meal. To finish was Honey Cake suggested by my host...great! I got to take home the unfinished olives and cheese afterwards. I will be returning there tomorrow!

The food here was absolutely delicious! It’s a lighter take on traditional Ukrainian cuisine, yet still very satisfying. We tried the Chicken Kiev, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, and Borscht—each one full of flavor. The chicken was served with a beautiful little salad. Both the waiter and the chef were warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It was a refreshing break from the usual fish and pork dishes. The desserts were fantastic as well. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and inviting. If I lived nearby, I’d come every week!

7/10Ok place though crucially the discount only applied to entrés and desserts, which is not what was advertised... Service was nice, food tasted good though a bit expensive compared to rest of Coimbra.

On the day of your visit, we had a new waiter working his very first shift, and unfortunately, he was not yet fully familiar with all the rules and conditions of The Fork promotion. We completely understand how frustrating this must have been, and we truly appreciate your understanding. We are already planning a full training session to make sure he, and all our staff, are completely up to speed to avoid this happening again.
