food was amazing, staff very attentive

I expected a lot more from a Michelin rated restaurant, even if just Bibe Gourmande. We made reservations for my husband’s birthday and the place was empty! Figured it was because we eat early. Both of my courses were extremely salty, and I loveeee salt! Everyone tells me that I oversalt everything, but I couldn’t eat my food! My carbonara was un eatable, which is a shame for our special occasion dinner in Rome. I told the server and his reply was “of course it is salty, both the cheeses and the meat are salty”. I had carbonara next day in Florence and it was spectacular. Romane was also full of fruit flies, we spent all night swatting them from our wine glasses. Also constantly had to ask the server for assistance, they didn’t came to the table at all unless asked. I get relaxed eating in Italy, but to never check on your guests when there are only 2 tables in the entire restaurant is unacceptable

Excellent Roman food and friendly service.

Yow! It started out w the BEST crusty sourdough dipped in peppery olive oil. We ordered a few of the classic Roman Trastevere dishes, the mixed heart, liver, etc sauté — very rich and savory. The carbonara did not disappoint, with a bright yellow color from happy eggs and chewy, salty guincale. After the tender, sautéed lamb and a few side greens, we raised the white flag, having done our best.

I researched restaurants in Rome for a good couple weeks prior to going with my wife. I used Michelin as the main guide but not only reference point. I booked four dinners and Romanè was out absolute favorite for its food and super friendly staff. Ambiance was plain, so short on five stars (brightly lit, tables very close by, simply decorated) but the food and wine and spirit were great. It’ll be the first place I book next time. Also, there are multiple Romane’s so be sure you know which one you’re going to.

As my husband wasn't feeling too well, we only ordered an appetiser and pasta, the olive oil recommended while we waited was delicious. It was from a contracted farm; one variety was tangy and refreshing, the other had a mellow flavour. For starters, we had polpette. The filling had a flavour reminiscent of corned beef. We also ordered pomodoro and lasagne. The pomodoro like homemade taste. The lasagne had a very crispy, quite hard, burnt cheese crust around the edges, and the flavours of the meat sauce and white sauce were not particularly noticeable. Having enjoyed the olive oil at the start, we ran out of bread. When we asked for more, a male staff member rather plonked a bag of bread from the neighbouring table onto our table, which left an impression. The female staff member was extremely kind, attentive to our needs, and asked if everything was alright and if we were satisfied with the flavour. However, the taste.

Great food and prices

Pasta was very good

Good atmosphere and ambience. Both the carbonara and lasagna were unfortunately overly salty; could not finish either dish. The polpette had great texture and flavor. Had high expectations coming in, but sadly left disappointed overall.

The service was very slow and not attentive. The food quality was not as good as expected.

So, there were some good things and some not so good things. Positive was that it was very welcoming. Staff was very friendly. On the negative, we ordered starters, pasta and meat. I’ve never had a Roman restaurant deviate from serving pasta before meat. We didn’t specify, and we received meat and pasta together at the same time. I think this is wrong, and it was tough to overcome this mistake. Also, lamb was a bit cold and dry, and the saltilbocca was tough and not very tasty. Chicken Cacciatore was pretty cold. Pastas were decent. Best part of the meal was the bread from Roscioli Forno, but I could go to the bakery for that. All-in-all, in our week in Rome, we ate several places better. Not sure what Michelin is thinking specifically calling this place out. Though cool to see a different neighborhood than the busy center.

Food was very overcooked and lacked the flavors of Italy.

The pasta was very nice, the meat and everything deep fried was not. I think the frying grease hasn’t been changed in a while. Also coffee was cold. For me it doesn’t deserve the Michelin gourmand rating.

The food was actually the worst we had while we were visiting Italy. Additionally, there were flys everywhere on the ceiling panels and the bathroom had a cockroach in it as well. We were shocked it made it on Michelin Guide.

Good food and atmosphere. Subpar overwhelmed service.

+1The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy.

Pasta was the best we’ve had in the last few days in Rome. Both the Saltimbocca and the braised lamb we succulent and generous.

Lovely ambiance and great food. Generous portions of delicious food

The food was good, though too salty, which we usually don’t find that the food in Italy is typically too salty. We had to get the attention of servers several times because they weren’t attentive. We didnt seem to have one server for our table; more like all servers were serving everyone but we had to flag them down to get things. The chocolate cake was incredible.

Delicious food and great service not far from the Vatican, a short walk. Excellent chicken cacciatore
5.5
The food is really good I have nothing to say. We loved it. However the service is really slow, they don’t pay attention to tables, they are quite nonchalant. The restaurant was almost empty so that’s not even a reason for not paying attention…

Great Roman food, exactly what we expected. Great choice in wines as well.

This restaurant is a really good spot for a family meal in Rome. The service was top-notch, and the place had a friendly, welcoming feel. You will see a mix of locals and tourists eating there – always a good sign. It seemed like the locals were really into the seafood, so that's probably a safe bet. What stood out was how creative the food was. They take classic dishes and give them a fresh twist, and everything we had was well-made and looked great. They also have an interesting wine list. Definitely try a Lazio red wine; it's local and tastes great with the food. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good meal with a nice atmosphere in Rome.

This place is in the Michelin guide and it's obvious why. The food is truly outstanding ,authentic, Italian classics and the olive oil and house wine is great. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. A little disappointing that most of the diners seemed to be American rather than Italian but then again, this is near the Vatican. Overall, really enjoyed our meal.

Good option not too far from Vatican Museums with authentic food and great service mentioned in Bib Gourmand by Michelin guide.

Very good Roman food, service good but gets a little stressed when things get busy. Good Wine list too.

Server did not bring menus or offer water for about 15-20 minutes after we were seated (with a reservation). Another eternity to take our food order. Appetizer was bland. Main courses were brought out in a staggered manner—I received my pasta long before my partner. My food was cold by the time her dish was served. The carbonara was not good. There is al dente and then there is serving the pasta nearly uncooked and hard with a crunch in every bite. Way too much sauce. Disappointing experience.

I came for the menu Bon Ricordo, but was disappointed that everyone need to order a prix fixe menu. it was just too much food for everyone and unnecessary. some flexibility would be nice!

We had a great afternoon lunch at Romane, a short walk from The Vatican following our morning tour. We shared a bottle of Chianti while enjoying the lunch special of lasagna and rigatoni in osso buco sauce. Reasonable prices, quality food, casual atmosphere and friendly service made for a memorable meal.
RomanèThank you Michael! 😊🙏😊

Good pasta, but sadly they used some bad parmeggiano that I guess was not freshly grated to say the least. The cheese totally dominated and covered all other flavors. I’m sorry to say, but this was a disappointment.
RomanèWe are really sorry for the inconvenience, but in such cases our staff would have changed the dish immediately resolving the situation if they had known!
