We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and tonight we finally got the chance, it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely excellent, and the host was warm and welcoming, making the experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back.

A little off the beaten track, but well worth the walk or tram ride. The food at Semhar is quite exceptional; clearly cooked with a passion, perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. It is traditional to use your hands and injera (pancakes) that soak up the delicious gravies. We are unashamed foodies and without doubt Semhar is one of the best food experiences we have had.

amazing food, amazing presentation. I was curious about the traditional way for the seats downstairs, but it seems that is need a special reservation. The value of money for food is one of the best

Place was nice but the meal ended up being very expensive related to the amount of food we had. We paid 60e for one veggie plate, which I consider too much for 2 people.

Food was great; I had the lamb dish with injera and date cake for dessert. Definitely worth visiting.

We enjoyed the food very much. Beautifully presented. We had a meal for 2, an assortment of foods. Layers of flavor !!!! Loved the coffee and date cake. A must visit.

It was a great find and barely other guest present so we as a group of 9 people had a lot of space and could enjoy our dinner to the fullest! Big recommendation in jordaan.

It is my favourite place to eat in Amsterdam. Just delicious. Service was amazing. It was my second visit and I'll definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

I have been to about five Ethiopean/Eritrean restaurants before and I always enjoy them. The dishes are varied and the way to eat with the sour dough crêpes is a nice change to our conventional eating. This restaurant was very good and I can definitely recommend it. The only thing I was not delighted by was that in the non-meat version there was only a single spicy sauce... the famous spicy egg does not come in a vegeratian version.
