We discovered Old Shalimar during a weekend in Paris and it quickly became our favorite spot for authentic Indian food. I’ve eaten at Old Shalimar a couple of times now and it’s quickly become my go-to spot for Indian food in Paris. The dishes actually taste like the ones I’ve had in India – rich flavours, good spices, nothing watered down. Portions are generous without being heavy and prices are fair. The place itself is simple and relaxed, nothing fancy, but the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful which makes the whole experience easy and pleasant. If you’re craving proper Indian food rather than the usual “French-style” curries, this is a solid choice.

We are an Indian family staying in the UK. On our holiday in Paris, we were looking for good Indian food and we found it at Shalimar!! The food was great. We had Dal Tadka, Palak Paneer, Vegetable Biryani, Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. All dishes were well made. The palak paneer stood out. The service was great as well. Would recommend it for fellow travellers!

We had an excellent dinner here! Very authentic and delicious. I had butter chicken and my husband had chicken tikka masala and we shared samosa legumes. The chicken was tender and flavor across the board was very good. Staff were very kind and checked in more than once to make sure everything was good for us. Overall experience was wonderful. I personally don’t love the atmosphere of a busy market feel but my husband liked that aspect and it wasn’t a big deal to me at all. We are tourists and found the spot by searching for Indian restaurants on The Fork and we were not disappointed. It seemed like a more authentic dinner and less touristy based on location and feel for us

Nice food quality. You can even order a veg version of every non-veg dish (with paneer) Amazing paneer quality too. Maybe a bit crammed in space. Toilet amazingly clean for such a full space but a bit in the way. Something we noticed and asked but the staff didnt know: there are hooks all over the restaurant on all the walls, these hooks look like the ones you can buy in india (for example from blinkit), i am just so curious what they are doing in paris and why all over the wall! :0
