I chose carefully this restaurant as my birthday celebration. However, we have been disappointed to find out that the degustation menu was for all parties at the table, since my partener is alergic to shellfish and I was really hoping to taste these. We ended up getting a la carte. The food was very good, but the initial news really left a bitter taste. The personal was very attentive, but there is room for improvement. Also, the decor seemed a bit erratic. All în all, there's a place I would recommend for delightful food,

We searched beforehand to find a nice restaurant in Bologna. The reviews of Sotto L’Arco were great .. and so were the photos of the food We were not disappointed We visited on a Thursday evening. A taxi from our hotel took around 20 mins and cost €23. The restaurant opens at 7.30 and is found in the first floor of a repurposed villa. (Advised ro check in at the reception desk). As its an old villa, the ceilings are high: meaning there are quite a few stairs to get to the first floor, but there’s also a lift. We were warmly welcomed. There aren’t that many tables, snd being midweek was quiet. Unobtrusive background music was playing and temperature was ok. We booked through the Fork but had asked to be allowed to book a la carte. I’m pescatarian and was well accommodated, but vegetarians and vegans would struggle Besides the courses we ordered, we were treated to numerous amuse bouche, breads, chefs welcomes etc. In total the cost worked out at around €100 per person including wine and coffee. Fabulous food. Great staff. Would highly recommend (Special thanks to Nickola?)

What an experience! First-class treatment from the moment you enter the doors. We did the four course tasting menu and it did not disappoint. It started with a bonus six piece amuse-bouche. Fantastic. We had 3 courses and then dessert. But, there is also a 6 course post-dessert dessert! Service, view, food - all outstanding.

Housed in a large villa with beautiful view from the outdoor patio of the Church of San Luca on a distant hill. The 4 course option allowed us to choose 4 items from the ala carte menu. The food was creative and excellent. Service was friendly and explained each course. It is a bit out from the center of the city but worth the trip. Price was reasonable.

The service was pampering to a fault. I do not need help sitting down, understanding what I ordered (the menu stated it clearly), or filling up my glass of water with a bottle standing on my table. Having ordered the package deal made the choice of dishes easier, when one didn’t have to think about the price for the individual dishes. The food was high quality and sometimes very experimental. Sometimes, experimental meant wonderful combinations of flavour, and sometimes it was a weird mess. I guess for the latter, that’s what I get for ordering ”Pastamisù”. The dining area was an open air balcony, which was nice for a hot summer evening, but the view was unimpressive.

Absolutely amazing! A must visit when in Bologna! We enjoyed our visit very much. The staff were incredible, and the food sublime! Would recommend 100%
