Very slow service, very expensive for what was offered. The grilled skewers arrived cold, the scallops were raw, they were not grilled and on request were warmed up in the microwave.

    Teatro44

Hello, we’re sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We prepared your dish again on the grill; we do not use a microwave. That said, we apologize for what happened and hope to welcome you again in Taormina. Thank you, and enjoy your holiday in Sicily.

Went here as we were tired of the standard italian fare in Taormina. The place did offer some interesting variation on italian food. We sat inside their beautifully laid out dining room. The decor was modern with comfortable ergonomics. Good enough for us to spend more than two hours at the place. We ordered four of their appetizers and two mains with drinks and desserts. Everything was presented well and was delicious. The restaurant felt like a family run restaurant with very good service. Would recommend them for a nice comfortable dinner.

We went to the restaurant in the middle of a rain storm which resulted in us being the only people dining . The staff were fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. We selected the 5 course tasting menu which was delicious, beautifully presented with delicious flavours . We had a wonderful evening. Highly recommend this restaurant .

Thank you Stephen for this review. We are so glad you enjoyed your evening at Teatro 44 and we cross our fingers for your next days in Sicily hoping for a beautiful weather. See you soon!

Excellent food in smaller (appropriate for 3 courses if hungry) portions. Unassuming location and ambience and a matter of fact but friendly enough staff. Flavours were complex and layered and interesting, with good quality ingredients.

Teatro44 is tucked away in a side street not far from the ancient theatre (via the street or a charming flight of steps). Ideal for a pre-performance meal or a more leisurely dinner. Both pasta and fish were delicious with friendly and attentive staff who did everything to make our meal enjoyable.

Really really nice food! Really interesting and exciting menu with exciting ingredients. Had fassona tartar and excellent fish with fabulous flavors. Excellent wines as well. Only sorry to see so many other restaurants being fuller occupied and this not during our visit ? Beats me why as it was classes above the majority of other restaurants in the city. Can only highly recommend to visit this restaurant. REALLY nice and tasty experience.

Amazing! The food was Michelin quality and so beautifully presented. The wine list was extensive and reasonable priced and the I loved the decor, if I could have bought painting from there I would! Lovely restaurant and staff, a must to visit.

    Teatro44

Thank you Wendy for your kind words of appreciation. We are very glad you enjoyed everything at Teatro 44 and we hope to see you soon! Have a great summer!

The vibe was sophisticated and relaxed. The menu was simple but varied and intriguing. The service was attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. The wine list had lots of great options - we settled on a delicious Tuscan Chianti.

Thank you Robert for this review, we hope to see you again!

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Taormina Tucked away on one of Taormina’s charming narrow streets, this quiet, elegant restaurant was an unforgettable find. We opted for the 5-course tasting menu, and from the very first bite, it was clear we were in for something special. Each dish was a masterpiece—meticulously crafted, beautifully plated, and infused with its own distinct, enchanting aroma. The progression of flavors felt like a carefully composed symphony, with every course offering something unique yet harmonious. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the pacing allowed us to truly savor each moment. The setting itself added to the magic—intimate and serene, a welcome contrast to the busy main streets. It felt like a secret, one we were lucky to stumble upon. This was more than a meal; it was an experience. A perfect blend of Sicilian tradition, creative flair, and heartfelt hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined and memorable evening in Taormina.

    Teatro44

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a thoughtful and gracious review. Knowing that every dish, every aroma, and every detail contributed to creating a memorable experience for you is the greatest reward we could hope for. Your words reflect exactly what we strive to offer each evening: care, harmony, and authenticity. And just as Teatro44 felt like a hidden gem you were lucky to discover, please know that for us, it was just as special to welcome you and share this little secret corner of Taormina with you.

During my visit to Taormina, I had one of the most exceptional dinners I've ever experienced. The restaurant masterfully blends traditional cuisine with a modern twist, making it a must-visit destination. The atmosphere is unparalleled, and the extensive wine selection adds to the overall experience. This place is definitely on track to earn a Michelin star in the near future.

we were welcomed nice, the menu looked good but the food in 5 course menu was bad, especially the fishsoup. This was a disappointment. We had higher expectations, that were not fulfilled. The wine we chose was good. It was cold in the restaurant because the outdoor was open all the time. Cigarette smoke entered the restaurant from time to time, not nice.

Made a reservation last minute and went in slightly blind to the menu. Very impressed with the quality of food. Unsure what people expect from service staff, was aligned with my expectations. It is a seafood-driven menu with a few non seafood options. This is not a basic tourist spot. If you want a thoughtfully curated menu with a solid wine list, this is your spot. Would absolutely return. We ordered: Cod croquettes, Gnochetti, Swordfish Wellington (WOW), coconut mousse dessert. Red wine and received a wonderful glass of Gulfi Rossojbleo.

Run, don’t walk to try out Teatro44. It’s spectacular… amazing food and wonderful, attentive service. I understood from our concierge that it’s fairly new which is possibly why it wasn’t busy (also they didn’t have a website when I booked.) It’s not going to take long before it’s no longer a secret gem. It was fantastic.

The food was excellent. Creative and delicious. The waiter was not interested at all and did not provide any conversation or explanation of the dishes. The cooks were very busy. We waited way too long for our main course. The waiter gave no response or indication when it will arrive. They were short on cooks. Really enjoyed the food.

The ingredients and service were phenomenal. Two exciting chefs that should work towards a little more balance of the amazing flavors they’ve pieced together. Would go back for seconds 10/10 times. The langoustine carpaccio was like butter. Multiple “wows”.

Fantastic food with surprising combinations of ingredients that made the experience one of the best we ever had.

Dear Christer, thank you for your kind words. We are so glad you and your family spent a nice experience at Teatro 44. Thank you for coming a second time, hope there will be a third if you ever come back in Taormina. See you soon :)

The food in this restaurant was incredible but for some reason it was quite empty so lacked atmosphere. I have no idea why people are not flocking to eat in here, it is off the main drag and so does not have the footfall but the food was so good should be rammed! I would definitely recommend it and would jump at the chance to eat in here again.

We choose this restaurant based on the positive feedback from Fork Customers. We arrived a little early to an empty restaurant. We asked for the house wines but they were out, immediately hiking up the price of the wine. The waiter made us up a starter of oysters, carpaccio of fish and a shrimp tartar. Tasty. Mains were all good but my son, asked for his steak to come without the Parmigiano as he doesn't like cheese. This was clearly lost in translation as the steak was served completely by itself without mash or vegetables. More customers did arrive but the atmosphere remained stilted. Food was good but expensive. Would not go back.

The tasting menu was in the amazing category. Service was lovely. We got there a bit early when it was quiet to start with - but livened up later - and would recommend booking a bit later. Great value for the quality.

Excellent food with very attractive presentations. The menu is very interesting with some innovative touches that give each dish an extra dimension. The only negative note was the very loud local musical group that came to play music for the tables outside- the volume was way too loud and disturbed guests inside who just wanted to have a peaceful conversation .

Food was amazing. The owner was very attentive and informative. Not the least overbearing. Made for a lovely evening. Quite expensive but hey. Also the jazz music was the teeniest bit loud and was on a loop of about four songs all night. The food was the reason we made the Everest-like trip and it was worth the effort. Overall, very good indeed.

Taormina is full of "me too" restaurants. Some are very good, but they are not especially creative. T44 is not like that. They try stuff and the results are often very good. These folks think like artists, not just like chefs -- and you know it the moment you walk in. So yes -- give it a try.

Had a great 5-course chefs menu dinner, all composed around a superb Etna white wine. Teatro44 is a quiet and cozy oasis just a little away from the overcrowded tourist areas and in a class of itself. This was our last evening in Sicily before flying back to Germany and a perfect “last-vacation-day -special-dinner”! Thank you for the excellent food and superb service! 🙏

This restaurant was wonderful. They were very friendly, romantic, and the food was out of this world. Just fantastic. I couldn’t believe we were able to get a table there the same night. I can’t recommend it enough. Bravo!

Food was tasty and presentation was great. Ambiance and service were sub-par. In a dead part of town (at least when we were there, mid-september ~8:30pm on Thursday) and not great service multiple times spilling on the table and us.

I want to preface this review by stating that nearly ALL of the food in the city of Taormina is absolutely horrible. We decided to come here after reading great reviews and seeing great photos of this restaurant. It was a very hot night so upon arrival we wanted to sit inside. However, the air conditioning system was broken/non-existent so it was very very hot. I ordered a glass of wine which I suspect was a bottle that had been opened the previous night since it was not fresh at all. The real issue we had was the food. We ordered two different types of pastas which were both practically inedible. The pasta I ordered was extremely fishy tasting and my wife's pasta was a little bit better but we simply couldn't eat it. We ended up eating a few bites and just leaving. This was a pretty unfortunate way to finish our trip but it seems to be the theme of the city if you don't know where the good restaurants are.

This was an amazing dinner! We sat outside and maybe as it was film festival (Indiana Jones night) was very quiet. Fernando our server was wonderful and helpful with wine and food suggestions. Highly recommend!

The food here is excellent! This place really deserves to be rated as a five start restaurant! Every dish we tried was cooked well and was very fresh. What was poor is service and lack of AC inside the restaurant. I hope this place does well, because the kitchen does an amazing job. The dishes very truly perfect!

The worst food we had in Italy- I still don’t feel well after that meal, the cod was chewy and every dish had a taste of uncooked fish with no innovation or intention in any of the dishes. I really wanted to like it but it was honestly terrible.
