+1This place has a warm vibe and the hospitality is always on point. The food is truly the best South Indian food I’ve had, and you can tell they know their food history. Ask for Dharani if you want to hear the stories behind the dishes. The space feels cozy, and it has become my favourite place to go. And when you’re there, ask Makesh to make you a cocktail. You just tell him what flavours you like and he creates something special every single time. No disappointment. If you like strawberry or pear, just say it and he’ll surprise you. I always leave feeling special and happy. Highly recommend.

+3Madras Diaries in Utrecht really impressed me! We had Rose Milk and Virgin Mango Mojito made by Makesh and they were so refreshing and tasty. Dharanni, was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious we tried the Thattu Idli, Podi Bonda, Korma with Cheese Garlic Naan and Parotta. Everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. For dessert, we had Kulfi and Moong Dal Halwa, which were the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Since the restaurant is close by, I’ll definitely be back soon, especially for their Onam special. It was so nice of them to tell us about it before we left. Overall, a great place with amazing food, good ambiance and friendly service. I highly recommend it. Whenever you’re there, make sure you try Makesh’s special drinks. Mocktails or cocktails, he always makes them the best .

7.5/10Madras Diaries is a fantastic find! The food is absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic South Indian flavors that transport you straight to Chennai. The service could slightly be better, but the atmosphere is vibrant and inviting. A truly enjoyable culinary experience – highly recommended!

8/10It is unfortunate that the base spice level of most vegetarian dishes are very spicy, except for the Dhall Tarka, Dhall Makhani, Paneer dishes or a few other small items like Dosa, Idli, etc. This means we can't order anything else except these dishes. Most friends who prefer mild spice levels complain of the same when frequenting Madras Diaries. It would make more sense to have the base spice level MILD and then add extra chillie for those who prefer more spicy.
