9.5/10The menu is impressively extensive. Some dishes are much stronger than the others (the Peking duck is fantastic!), but overall, everything is well prepared.

9/10We had a really good evening's with our friends visiting from Canada (Cruise finished in Lisbo n) we had eaten before at The Old House so happily recommended it. When we arrived 19.30 for our reservation service was slow but once we were at our table, Arthur our "Host" waiter was great. Food amazing!

10/10This was our second visit. Great Chinese food with great ambience. Reservations a must as always full. Portions are very generous in size. Make sure to ask if they are for share (they generally are). the only thing to improve could be the dessert section which was very small compared to a huge menu. Great place. Make sure to have it on your list.

10/10Excellent experience. We were able to book a large group lunch on Sunday with no notice. Food was truly authentic, with top notch service. Slightly out of the way from central Lison but worth it.

9/10Authentic Chinese restaurant. Very good food. Went with a Chinese friend who is originally from Shanghai but lived in London, New York and Miami who was very impressed with the quality of the food. Wish the service was better. Our veggie dishes didn’t come out so we cancelled them. Other than that, dinner was amazing. Our Lisbon friends want to come back often.

8/10The restaurant was pretty and the service was good but it was overpriced. The chicken and peanuts dish was ok but not worth 23€, one chinese pancake (which looked like an Indian paratha) went for 7€. Basic drinks are also expensive . We ordered half a Beijing duck, but looked like 1/4. Ask the waiter for the portion sizes, because the specialties might be bigger || O restaurante é bonito e o serviço é bom, porém os pratos são caros para o que é servido. Perguntem pelo tamanho das porções, pois as especialidades são maiores.

8/10We had a late lunch reservation and when we were ordering, we were too late to order the duck while that was the reason to come there. Would have been nice if they told us because people ordered it next to us 5 min earlier en when we ordered, it was too late, while we were there the whole time. They should have let us know that we had to order now if we wanted the duck..

8/10Nice restaurant with good food. The dishes are quit large so it’s not possible to order several dishes and share with 2 persons. The shrimps and duck is already so much that you can’t order more, which is a shame because everything looks so good. The shrimps is so big and with so much shrimps that for 1 or 2 persons we could not eat it all.. could be smaller portions

9/10On my mind thé most authentic Chinese restaurant in Lisbon. All dishes beside one were again perfect. Friendly but because it is a big and popular place service is not that quick, not the kitchen but the waiters are taking care of maybe too many tables. Not always easy to get there attention. It is not cheap like your local Chinese but it is worth the money ! We are there for special occasions like my birthday. If you feel like more authentic Chinese dining experience I do not think they have competition.

10/10The authenticity of the Szechuanese cuisine is why we keep coming back to The Old House. As an Asian living in Portugal, many Chinese restaurants have modified the authenticity of the cuisine to suit locals and tourists. We’ll be back for sure each time we come to Lisbon.

7/10Whenever I go to this restaurant, I am always reminded of how well decorated it is. The little corners are quite reserved and allow for a great experience. Food, as always, is exceptional. My only issue is the service. My experience with Chinese restaurants, anywhere in the globe, is efficiency and I do not see that efficiency in this place. Service is slow, one calls several times until a waiter finally comes, waiters speaking amongst themselves with a high tone perturbing the room ambiance. Yes, the staff is polite and careful, but I expect more of the service considering the bill at the end.

3.5/10The menu options were geared mostly to large groups of people, not many options for a couple. Menu was void of many choices that you would expect from a traditional Chinese restaurant. We ordered the crispy duck with traditional pancakes, spring onions, cucumber, plum sauce. Duck was not crispy or shredded as expected. Main course selection was very disappointing, cold and tasteless. Extremely expensive, not good value for money. A complaint was made, no apology and no action was taken. Would not recommend and will never revisit.

6/10Even with a reservation to 10 p.m., our table was only available 20 minutes later. During our dinner, the waiter approached us, saying that the kitchen was closing and that if we wanted any dessert, we had to order it now. The food quality was average, it was overpriced, and I think all the buzz about this restaurant is overrated. There are, in Lisbon, better places to eat traditional Chinese food.

As in any restaurant, the kitchen has closing time and we prefer to notify customers in advance so they can have the opportunity to place any order they wish, as once the kitchen closes it is no longer possible to place any more orders, this is the procedure in any restaurant. .

2/10All the food arrived at the same time and cold. The chicken still had the cartilage so it wasn’t cleaned well. Also, service was poor, no one to assist. We left after 30 minutes.

10/10Service by Bruno was very good! He was attentive and professional… Thank you!! The slice spicy chicken was freaking amazing!!! If you order the fry rice… just realize that it’s just white with soy sauce. No meat, veggies nor any other ingredients… everything else was on point! It’s a must to try.

5/10The restaurant is very beautiful and has a huge potential, but unfortunately, the food disappointed. The novilho with carrots was so tough we couldn't eat, and when you report it to the waiter, he tries to give an excuse, saying it's because it's a "different type of meat " what? Also, the shrimp dumplings were fishy. As I said, huge potential, but they need to pay attention to details, including with the staff.

4/10This was a very disappointing experience ! Food quality was average at best and not remotely as described by other reviewers on The Fork ! The food was vastly overpriced - € 36 for a half duck and €79 for a fish speciality dish !!!! We had to return the duck as it was lukewarm - was replaced with another duck dish and it was still lukewarm ! Virtually inedible ! We requested that the fish be filleted - it wasn’t we had to fillet the fish our selves . The total bill for 2 gyozo starters as well as the 2 dishes described above with 1 bottle of wine & 1 glass of Spumante - was €177 !!!! And they still had the audacity to charge me for the duck ! Even the waitress was embarrassed by this ! I shall never return and I will ensure that my friends avoid this restaurant ! Please post this review on your site ! Brendan Mowles

9/10This is one of my favourite restaurants in Lisbon. This time I invited friends from Germany. The food is really good, though the service was not quite up to the mark I was used to in former visits, a bit slower and not quite so attentive to developments of consumption - which was a pity in view of the very high standards of service of The Old House.

9/10Very good (quite genuine) Szechuan cooking. It’s a large, tourist-oriented place but we enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. A good destination if you are after solid Chinese fare. We would go again.

although we try to keep the original Sichuan flavor, some of the dishes have to be adapted so that the Portuguese can eat them, especially the level of spice and Sichuan pepper.

9/10Very good cuisine, excellent quality and very tasty, however service professionalism could improve, since it took long to start the meal and they have forgotten one of our orders. Also no proactive advise or comment on the menu whatsoever… We stayed outside, which was very pleasant but noisy due to one group but that is not the restaurant’s fault. Whit all that in mind, it’s a place to return

10/10My group consisted of tourists from NYC & Singapore, and were really craving Chinese food on our last day after eating 2 weeks straight of Portuguese food. We were all pleasantly surprised by how authentic and tasty the food was. Highly recommended!
