I love small plates - a real opportunity to sample the best that the kitchen can produce. The social dining option had 12 dishes between 2 people, and the waiting staff cleared 12 empty plates. Some extras (breads and rice) were provided, also really tasty. The team were also really supportive for dairy allergies.

We got the social dining menu. It included 6 dishes. They were all good but, considering that the portions were not generous, we expected a bit more kick from the tastes and flavours. Service was great, quick and very friendly.

The service was good, but it was Valentine’s Day meaning that it took longer than expected . The food was good , but nothing extremely amazing . Maybe next time in a different night it would be better .

Service was amazing, the waiters were very kind to accommodate our large group. The food was delicious, with great variety, and a decent amount of vegetarian options.

Lovely evening at Umami, great food and atmosphere. Place was popular and packed, staff worked very hard to make everybody’s evening a good one. I would definitely go again. My only gripe was that the menu was confusing and we were forced to order far more food than we would normally wish to eat. Being able to choose a small amount of individual dishes à la carte and not from the extended set menu would make this venue the perfect evening out

The menu promised a touch of luxury, featuring ingredients like crayfish and scallops, but unfortunately the dishes themselves fell a bit flat. The flavors were rather bland and uninspiring—not bad per se, just lacking excitement. On the bright side, the wine selection was excellent, and the service, though a bit slow, was delivered with genuine warmth and friendliness by a very charming server. Overall, a cozy atmosphere, but the food left something to be desired.

First time at Umami. Surprisingly great food. All very tasty. Reasonable prices. But the service was very slow. We waited quite a while before the staff took our orders. When they did, they patiently explained how the ordering system was, however, it was nearly 1.5 hours between our first and second courses. It also took time for our third courses to arrive. The mojito my friend got was rather sweet whereas the “champagne” that accompanied my pornstar martini was stale prosecco with no bubbles and hardly any flavor. We arrived at 6 pm and left at nearly ten not just due to the large number of courses for the social dining menu but also due to the long wait between courses.

the food was great, but overconstrajned and too many dishes to pick from. i think the dishes themselves had character and depth. the portion sizes are somewhat large, which makes it hard to get through. lastly, the service was incredibly slow.

It was delishes only 12 dishes for two persons was too much. The dishes were little, nevertheless, 8 dishes would be better….. The explanation was a little bit complicated ……

Simply delicious! I will definitely be back. My waitress was also super friendly and helpful. She enhanced my dining experience. Highly recommend Umami and she deserves a bonus or raise!

Great service, attentive and caring, and extremely kind - rare for Amsterdam's standards. Great value for the money - full seafood menu with half lobster at €58 is 🔥. What can be improved: wine cart can be bigger and a few dishes are overly salty or with too garnishes.

The food was truly excellent. Very creative and tasty offerings. The service was extremely helpful and informative and so pleasant and welcoming. Overall a top-flight restaurant in every way!

The team at Umami looked after my large group of colleagues (10) very nicely! Service was personable, attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the social dining menu- which provided great variety and lots of beautiful flavours with every course. Thank you!

Asahi Super-dry was served lukewarm. When I pointed it out, the floor manager said there is temperature limit of refrigerator. I made a suggestion and told him, if so you can freeze the glass which helps. He said the freezer is on the basement and it takes time to serve. They don’t deserve serving draft beer. The distance between tables is only 10 cm and we can hear the conversation from both sides of our table which was very annoying. This restaurant does not care the privacy or comfortable stay of guests. What they care is just to put as many tables as possible to make money. The lady serving plates did not know how to put plates on the table. She put them strongly on all tables around me and made loud noises every time. Food was good other than the main course lobster.

Plenty good choices of dishes. My party enjoyed many of the dishes that we picked. We like the social dining option which is a modified version of the good practice in most Chinese restaurants. So for the 3 of us we had the chance to share 18 different dishes.

We did the three course menu. It is so much food. The dishes were all quite tasty. The lemon fish might have been the best one. But they were all quite good. I liked the electronic wine list. Fun and good options. Good service. They explain each dish when served. I definitely enjoyed our visit.
