10/10Starting with the ambience, it was accurate. The way it is designed, the light, the feel was excellent. The staff was wonderful, welcoming, knowledgable, and super kind. And then the food, it really felt like each course is telling a story, took us through the chef's thinking and life experience, and it was simply exquisite and delicious. Really enjoyed the entire evening from beginning to the end.

10/10+2A fantastic, gastronomic, and delicious experience awaited us at Vitantonio Lombardo restaurant. With great service, wonderful people; and the cave-themed ambiance follows the general Matera-sassi vibe. The welcome dish, consisted of five delicious bites served on a little model of the old part of the city. The sparkling white wine was particularly refreshing. The tagliolini was presented as "noodles for a brain", very creative. The seabass, may have been the best we've ever had. The pigeon breast and cherry was delicate and tasty. The Cigar for Mozart dessert came in a box with smoke and everything. And the kind servers made us feel at home. It was a perfect night!

10/10Tasting menus are always interesting but what made it really unique is the fact you are able to select which dishes you’d like for each course. It is also highly recommended to do the wine pairing throughout as they have a lovely selection. The way they plate their dishes really elevates the experience and taste.

8/10+1I’ve given up Michelin * restaurant these few years. But I was in one of the amazing city Matera and led me to this restaurant when I browsed Matera. To my surprise, the foods were amazing and I got the reservation by myself not by AE.

9/10Very nice service, booked it for the atmosphere and possibility to eat i a cave. The food was not 10 out of 10. The black Pizza looked stunning but tasted very bland. The starters on the little caves tasted also quite normal. I loved the meat pork and also the dessert. I would not come back.

9/10It’s amazing to have such a high quality restaurant in a place , like Matera, known 40 years ago as “ the shame of Italy” (since it was extremely poor and dirty). Nevertheless, I think we should have the flexibility as a couple to decide a dish for each person, it’s impossible for one person to have a fish, and for the other to have meat.

7.5/10The little restaurant is very charming. Very nice sitting in front of the kitchen. Good service , the team was very welcoming and well trained. We tried the set menu in 5 courses with wine pairing. Overall it’s a nice experience, really loved the appetizers and the pasta with lobster. The risotto was nice also. The last kiss was an experience on his own but as a dessert it didn’t meat our expectations. Overall we have ok wine but no Wahouuuu effect except the Italian Chardonnay and the dessert wine. I guess that’s for the price of the wine pairing I would have expect better options. As a general comment I would say that we are happy to discovered this place but it might be a bit pricy for a one star Michelin and more important I’m missing the one dish that made this place special.

9/10Very nice ambient in a cave and very attendive staff. To choose the menue and to "reduce" the couses if you don't want to eat 10 cousese is "difficult" because all the options sounds very nice. As usual the food in Italy is not served as hot as in Austria and it is a little bit less "tasty" but beneath that, it was excelent.

6/10As a newly Michelin-rated Michelin restaurant to Matera for 2023, our expectations were high, but sadly the food did not meet our expectations especially after comparing it to our dining experiences in Milan, Bari and Naples which have the same one- star ratings. There were a few hits but more so, many of the dishes lacked the Michelin quality we have come to expect. Presentation was commendable with attractive dishes presented on equally attractive platings. The ambience was very appealing as you are welcomed to a bright cave with modern yet minimalist styling. We ordered the 10-course Chef's tasting menu, however we felt there wasn't always a harmonious flow from one course to the other with several back to back carbohydrate-heavy dishes. The serving staff was quite pleasant but at times not as attentive as one would expect for a Michelin rated restaurant.

10/10This place was stellar. We felt that everything revolving around the dining experience was intentional and thoughtful. Though a nicer fine dining place, theres was still an element of fun and exploration. The food is really creative and tasty. Highly recommended for a date night, anniversary or special occasion.

9.5/10Most of the dishes were rather two stars than one. But a bit less convincing for the desserts, they might need a more competent Patissier. Also some room for improvement with regards to the service. All in all a very well deserved star. Best in Matera!

6/10We had the 8 course menu with wine pairings. We only liked 3 of the courses’ a few times the wine pairings were late. There were bread crumbs on the table which were left until just before dessert and even then some crumbs were left. I wish the restaurant well in the future’ unfortunately it wasn’t for us. The staff were pleasant on the whole’ the standout waiter was pasqale’ he has a great enthusiasm explaining each course’ which tends to make the others seem bland’ we only had him for a couple of courses ‘ so we saw a marked difference in the delivery of the other waiters. Again we wish the restaurant well.

10/10Refined, elevated dining experience, yet very welcoming. The Chef is a creative genius. I tried the 8 course tasting menu. Every presentation was a like a work of art. Though very creative in concept, still quintessentially Italian in flavors. Staff knowledgeable and attentive. Would highly recommend. Up there with some of my most enjoyable dining experiences.

6/10Italians are the kings of the simple food. Italians are the kings of matching the unmatchable items with outstanding results. They are the best. Unfortunately some chefs are trying the same approach with the food….. Simply doesn’t work. The results are politely said front strange to mediocre and some times disgusting. At that place I would stop till mediocre… Good wine list with popular labels and fare price. The bread was wonderful. Very fine fossili with lamb ragout . The sea bass was good as well . The desserts was nothing special . Bla bla.

10/10+1This Michelin Star restaurant was amazing - it has always been a bucket list item for me to eat at such a fine calibre restaurant. The staff were amazing and the food was superb. The wine pairings were also well balanced and well chosen for each course. We were able to choose from a 5-, 7- and 12- course meal (wine pairing was additional). This was a fabulous experience and we would return in a heartbeat! Grazie mille!!

10/10The staff was professional and welcoming, the food was great! Besides the courses we have ordered (7 corses), we had some starters as a compliment and a small dessert at the end. The wine was not expensive but so good too! Great experience! Loved the atmosphere of the place as well!

10/10Possibly the best meal I have ever eaten - and I 've been to quite a few Michelin restaurants over the years. The stripped back setting and lighting enhances the experience, allowing maximum impact on your senses of sight and taste, and if you have 'The Last Kiss' (and I strongly recommend that you do) even sound. The sea bass in white chocolate source was just one of the highlights - tuna tartare with red onion icecream shouldn't be missed either! The food was packed with flavour and delicacy, and even humour. The staff managed the mix of relaxed and formal well, explaining each dish in detail. If you are in Matera you should visit this place - top notch!
