3.5/10We arrived just before our reservation time. The restaurant had only a few guests, and upon waiting at the sign indicating for us to wait to be seated, no one came to help. A waiter looked over at us, and nothing. We then walked up to the bar to check if the bartender could help. He, too, looked at us, and didn't come over to help. So, after 15 minutes of being ignored, we left.

6.5/10The food was OK although the choice is very limited. Unfortunately the service is very typical of hotel restaurants: if this was a normal restaurant they'd be out of business in no time. It wasn't that busy considering it was Saturday evening but the service was glacial. People arriving were having to seek out staff

8.5/10The food was quite good. However, we must have visited on an off night as service was a bit slow. Perhaps the kitchen was a bit understaffed and the servers, although quite amiable, were perhaps relatively new and less experienced, so we waited much longer than expected for our dishes. The ambiance is OK as long as you know you are eating in a hotel lobby restaurant. Fortunately, it was on the quiet side so easy to have a conversation with your dinner partner.

6/10The location is beautiful, and the interior/exterior are very well-decorated. The food was overpriced for the portions, which is a shame because the offerings had potential. The service was not good: the server didn’t know the ingredients of certain items, never checked on us once the food was delivered, and never came to clear the plates. Unlike most restaurants in The Hague, they were not dog-friendly. Given the competition in this city, I wouldn’t choose to return to Botanica.

10/10We have been positively impressed by this place. Ambiance - modern with botanical sphere, interesting elements of decoration, sufficient space in the dining area, clean, also very clean lavatory. Food - again very interesting interpretation of Dutch food. Dutch food does not have much of variations, but guys tried ( successfully for our opinion) make it look and taste original. We had beef brisket and green asperges as main course, both very delicious ! Side - young potato (with cranberry, very unusual and super tasty!) was superb , the French fries - which Dutch claim is very special Dutch dish, was OK, nothing special ,though good). We had something to celebrate and we got free rose cava and it was very nice gesture not to mention that it was just nice cava! Service - very attentive, though not overwhelming! We enjoyed our time, definitely liked the place and will recommend to visit it.

9.5/10Very tasty, imaginative and nicely presented small plates. Staff were friendly and the place had a nice relaxed feel to it. A little expensive for the size of the plates but we left satisfied. An interesting and enjoyable dining experience.

9/10Celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary at Botanica, nestled in the Voco Hotel on Kneuterdijk in Den Haag, was a delightful journey into Dutch-inspired cuisine. The menu, guided by nature, boasted a diverse array of regional products with a notable emphasis on vegetarian dishes. Our evening commenced with a touch of elegance – a glass of champagne and the friendly guidance of our waitress. Sourdough bread from Meneer Leffers with lovage butter and tomato set the stage, accompanied by delectable starters like Beetroot with Red cabbage, radish, cumin & rose, and Nut pâté with figs, artichoke & fig leaf. So delicious that we indulged in a second round of bread to relish every delightful drop. The subsequent trio of dishes—Potato’s with chives, pickled onions; Salsify with black garlic, oyster mushroom & almond; and Savoy cabbage with kohlrabi, barley from ‘Alkmaar’ & seaweed | mandarin—showcased the freshness and healthiness of modern cuisine, skillfully presented with a modern touch. A sweet conclusion awaited us in the form of Wentelteefjes (twisting bitches)with quince, frozen yogurt, spices, and Doruvael cheesecake with BBQ pear, oats, thyme—creating the perfect end to an already exceptional meal. While the culinary experience was outstanding, the ambiance faced some challenges. Despite the botanical theme, the prevalence of plastic plants and the unfortunate state of the few living ones failed to evoke the intended tropical feel. The plastic seating, coupled with the clash of English stoneware and German porcelain, presented an unexpected contrast that detracted from the expected ambiance of a 4-star hotel. On a thoughtful note, the hotel left a handwritten card on our table, adding a personal touch to our anniversary celebration. However, a minor confusion arose when we noticed sugar shakers on each table, which, upon inquiry, turned out to be remnants from the breakfast/lunch service. Despite these minor hiccups, the culinary delights at Botanica truly made our anniversary celebration memorable.

Dear Brett, Thank you very much for your visit and thank you for leaving such a detailed and thorough review. We are proud to learn that for the most part you enjoyed your dinner with us! We will of course share your positive words about the food and service with the team. And your suggestions for improvement we will bring forward in our ongoing process of improving guest experience. In regards to the plants, we would like to make the side note that infact, 80% of the plants in the restaurant and our Atrium are in fact real plants. In a couple of occasions where we are unable to, in a sustainable way grow plants we have chosen a high-quality fabric or plastic alternative. Again, thank you very much for your visit and your note son your stay with us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future! With kind regards, Daan Verheul - Operations Manager

8.5/10We had a wonderful dinner and I especially loved being more mindful about the impact of my choices, environmentally-speaking. I would recommend Botanica though there were two disappointing things - one ingredient was missing on one of my dishes, which was a shame, and the service, though very polite and pleasant, really was very slow.

8/10Quiet and elegant place. The menu is quite short, mostly vegetarian, but you can find some non-veg dishes. Portions are small, you need to take 2 mains and some bites to share, to get full. Duck and pumpkin confit was exceptional, other (nut pate and scallops, hot chocolate) were nothing special, very basic. Very good cava and nice champagne prices. I would return just for the duck and bubbles.

10/10We chose to eat at Botanica our first night in The Hague, and are glad we did. We had the place basically to ourselves, which was great because we were able to monopolize the time of our server, who was very gracious about sharing it. The food was really, really good, and we all enjoyed learning about how the restaurant is committed to being as green and earth-friendly as possible by utilizing fresh, local ingredients and working with local farms and suppliers
