9/10Delicious foie gras and venison stew, friendly and welcoming. A lot of diners arrived at the same time so service was a little slow but well worth the wait!

10/10I ate at La Vie d'Ange two and a half times this week (once dinner with my husband, once just dessert with him after a disappointing dinner elsewhere, and once dining alone because he had to leave a day earlier than me) so I've already left my very positive review. But I'll add here that I"very much dined alone at La Vie d'Ange on several occasions and always felt comfortable. In this relaxed and cozy ambience, it's always easy to strike up conversations with neighboring tables, because we are all so happy and relaxed from the wonderful food and wine and the warm atmosphere that Aida and Thierry create.

10/10When I think of Paris, I think of La Vie d'Ange. The warmth and hospitality of this small unprepossessing bistro are created by the wonderful artistry of chef Aida and the excellent cellar and knowledge of wines of host Thierry--not to mention the warmth and friendliness of both. On this most recent trip, my husband and I specifically sought some Michelin stars and you can see why those places have their stars, but La Vie d'Ange is a true French bistro with excellently prepared dishes, traditional French cuisine, and knowledgeable wine pairing recommendations. This is my favorite restaurant (we dined here twice in the week, and stopped in for dessert and a glass of wine after a disappointing dinner elsewhere). Montparnasse is not in the center of things--though if you are staying at Marriott Rive Gauche it is a must--but the Metro connects easily with three stations very close by. This bistro is a true Parisian gem.

10/10Our host took incredible care of our table. Our meal ranged from classic French fare, exquisitely managed to creative and delicious twists. The wines are carefully thought out and the bottles we consumed were wonderful pairings for the meal.

10/10Truly authentic and very good French cuisine with a cultural twist…..only wine served. Adds to the ambience of “when in France, do as the French do”. We started with Chestnut truffle soup (10/10), escargot for appetizers, then ribeye steak with French potatoes and Venison stew with ginger sweet potatoes for entrees. All worth the price

10/10The owner was very friendly and patient in helping us select our food choices. We had the onion tart, wild deer stew, the lamb shank and yellow plum tart. Compliments to the chef as the meal was delicious!!

10/10I first ate at this restaurant about 8 years ago, on the recommendation of our Parisienne AirBnb host. Years later, I still remember the onion tart and the warm hospitality. Finally, I was able to return. The food was just as wonderful and plentiful as I had remembered and we enjoyed every minute of the meal. Highly, highly recommended!

9/10The food was absolutely phenomenal. Don’t come expecting food to be served immediately. Everything is made to order and you have your table for the evening. We spent a solid 2 1/2 hours there enjoying authentic French cuisine, wonderful wine, and a truly real experience of France! I had the fois gras that was spectacular. My dining partner had the very tasty onion tart. The vol au vent was filled with tender chicken, duck, and mushroom in a creamy sauce and my friend had the seasonal deer stew. For dessert I opted for the vanilla ginger crème brine which was wonderful. My friend had the mirabelle tart with a short or accompanying schnapps. A delightful dinner with warm hospitality!

10/10I’ve not had a better meal in Paris. The potatoes that came with the lamb shank, are the best I’ve had in my life. No joke.

10/10Thierry and his wife were so kind and attentive to all the guests in the restaurant, spending time to discuss dishes and life and then back to the kitchen. not only was the food excellent and well presented and wine-paired, it was "made with love" that could be felt and tasted. It was a memorable meal. If you're in the Montparnasse area, it's absolutely worth booking a table. My only suggestion to the chefs, and this is really a minor suggestion, is to perhaps include a child's menu option. My son ate a bit from the 3 adults at the table but was not brave enough to order escargot :-)
