A Wonderful Dining Experience at Le Maharajah! We had a fantastic evening at Le Maharajah! As someone with extensive experience in Indian cuisine, both from cooking it myself and from several trips to India, I can confidently say the dishes here tasted authentic—like a trip to India, but without leaving the city. We ordered Tikka Masala, Korma, and Butter Chicken, and all three were excellently prepared. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, showcasing the depth of Indian culinary traditions. To my great relief—and especially my daughter’s—none of the dishes were overly spicy. This made the meal much more enjoyable for her, as she’s not a fan of spiciness. Despite that, the taste was true to the original recipes I’ve enjoyed in India. Another highlight was how easy it was to share the dishes. The portions were perfect for tasting a bit of everything, allowing everyone to enjoy a variety of flavors. It turned the meal into a shared adventure that we all loved.

Our first time in Versaille, the food was great, very tasty and they were able to make it Indian spicy for us and not 'French spicy' i.e. not spicy at all! I had the Madras which anywhere else is the 2nd hottest curry you can get next to a Vindaloo, it was mild curry spicy but still good for France.

We never tried Indian food before and i always had some fears of it being spicy as I don't tolerate it much. We found this on the fork during our visit to Versailles Palace and it had good reviews. The welcoming staff are warm and the menu is rich in choices. We took the Nan fromage garlic which is 5/5 and not like anything else. We tried the maharajah mixte for 2 persons which had 2 of each: samosa (very good), poulet tika (good spices), agneau Tikka (average), ognion bhadjee (like caramelized onions and was really good) and finally the kebab which wasn't good at all. We took a plate of basmati rice with butter Chicken which was very well made, not very spicy and a good portion. For drinks we tried the Lassi mangue which was good and different from the regular mango smoothies. For dessert we tried one hot (the 3 balls which were veryyyy sweet and not recommended) and one cold (the frozen ice cream pistachio thing which was good). Show the pictures because i forgot the names lol.

Le Maharajah is open on Mondays, which is a plus in France. Now the question is: was it their cooking or our stomachs' sensitivity? In any case within an hour of going home we both had terrible stomach aches and diarrhoea. Maybe you'll have better luck?

Delicious Indian with excellent service in a nice area. We had the chicken korma and butter chicken and both were great.

I am American and brought my 20 year old French grandson to this restaurant because it was close to where he goes to prep school. My wife (also French) and I enjoy Indian/ Pakistani food back in the states and felt he needed to try it. The reservations were made in advance while we were on the road and as things are with traffic we were delayed, however, the restaurant graciously understood and seated us despite a 20 minute delay. The service was swift and the food was flavorful, filling and delightfully delicious. My wife and I had a couple of cocktails followed by Indian Beer, my grandson drank a sort of mango smoothie with his meal. The owner/ manager was a friendly fellow who made sure all was correct and to our liking throughout our stay. The décor was pleasing, the eating area clean and bright and the toilet area very clean. I would definitely return. We apparently pleased the owner/ manager who also spoke English with me and asked a lot of questions about America. I was completely surprised at the 25% reduction he arbitrarily gave for the check. I didn't know where that came from and was pleasantly surprised. Dinner for 3 with drinks at under 90€... You can't beat that! About the only thing I would suggest to make the restaurant a bit more "Indian" and less "western European" in ambiance, would be to put up photos of Indian scenes like those where everyone throws red and blue paint powder everywhere and on everyone; or images of those elephants on parade in fancy decorations; or even still photos of the Pakistani/ Indian "high kicking ceremony" at the border during the changing of the guard. This is just a great spot to seek out when you can.
