The 4 dishes we ordered were of excellent quality, though quite salty but that did not put us off. The staff were very friendly and professional and not over bearing. The only comment I would make is about the carafe of water, which by smell and taste was musty - next time we will order bottle water.

We stopped off at Au Lion Rouge on our transit to Italy. A great decision. A pleasant hotel with a first rate restaurant serving authentic local Alsatian dishes. My wife had the veal which was presented in a light creamy sauce accompanied by spätzle. I opted for the beef stroganov - perfectly cooked sliced quality beef in a rich dark sauce. This was accompanied by a seasonal salad based on fennel. Needless to say since we were in Alsace these dishes had to be accompanied by the local wines - which they were. A great find and would definitely consider coming here again.
