6/10No one to meet and greet customers as they arrived. My chicken dish was overcooked and dry. The courgettes lacked seasoning and were very bland. A very disappointing meal. The 2 staff members were a little overwhelmed by the amount of customers and this meant service was poor. I asked for a second glass of wine but never received it despite it appearing on our bill. It could be do much better.

8.5/10Good service, starter was lovely. we had the cote du Boeuf to share for main course… it was a little tough and could have done with a little more seasoning. Good wine list.

4.5/10We had to wait 2 hours for the main course! Due to this we cancelled the dessert! The tables are too small to serve as tables in a restaurant. The service was not very attentive and less professional.

6/10We has dinner on a very wet and windy evening in late March. Avarum has glass ceilings over much of the dining area and this meant it was rather too cold inside for our liking. Service was reasonably attentive. The menu is very short and didn’t offer much choice. The food was presented nicely but portions are small. We could and maybe should have stuck to just the charcuterie and cheese platters. The mains were very expensive for what they were. No children’s options so our two boys are little more than bread and salmon. This is a place more for couples or small groups of foodie friends. The wine list naturally heavily local Ay champagne dominated. Prices around 2x the cost at the producer which isn’t as high a mark up as we’ve experienced.

9.5/10For the owners: we were very impressed with Lana. She helped us understand the menu and choose a local champagne. We saw she works very hard and is attentive to all customers’ requirements. We had a very pleasant meal and recommend this restaurant!

5/10At first glimpse looks like a nice restaurant, friendly staff, however whilst trying to be hip & stylish they forgot how to cook. Really disappointing food. Also the tables are children’s seized (they really are old kids tables) which should be romantic or idk but in reality to small to be comfortable for two adults. There aren’t many other places available in town, but I’d recommend to look for something else.

8/10Original decoration and meals. Staff is polite and efficient. We asked for a table change but the place was fully booked therefore impossible. Duck magret was overcooked despite requested saignant; cutlery had to be kept instead of changed; but despite these negative lines, we had a nice orignal lunch.

9.5/10Incredible restaurant in the heart of Ay. Friendly staff, great wine selection and superb food. Very flavoursome. Would recommend on any trip to Ay. The only constructive criticism, perhaps some French music? Or something more relaxed/classic.
