9/10Usually the restaurant is serene/quiet; on my past two visits there have been some very loud people (in both cases, Italians) who make the experience less enjoyable for everyone else.

5/10Really nice setting. However, the service was not respecting the fact that we wanted to enjoy a slow and cosy evening. We needed to eat and drink as fast as possible. Cappuccino al bolognese was great, carbonara was very. Way too expensive for this experience, unfortunately.

10/10Me and my husband are at this restaurant the last night we were in Paris. It was the best meal we had during our visit. We ordered a la carte because we are from the US, and the tasting meals offer too much food for our liking. The service was excellent, and atmosphere was very romantic. The decor was very unique, and exquisite. We will be back next time we visit Paris.

10/10Caffè Stern has become special. It was such a great find originally that we have dined there multiple times. This visit we treated guests for a celebrator meal. Without oversetting expectations, by the midpoint of our meal the guests of honor were commenting that Caffè Stern was already an unforgettable meal in design, presentation and flavor.

7.5/10Nice restaurant but not great. Good service and staff was friendly. Food was good but not so great as to have me coming back. We were seated between the two main salons, despite both being relatively empty. I found that to be rude, like other reviewers mentioned. One of those places that looks better in pictures.

3.5/10I hate to be the one as I never write reviews but since I feel it was that bad I am compelled to let you know. The food was so bad I wouldn’t eat there again if they were giving it out for free… we had a couple of starters and the steak for main to see how it went but honestly we asked for a doggy bag and binned it on reflection. They’re stuffed animal entrance made it look like a taxidermy shop which it might as well have been. The decor in my humble opinion was a mismatch of brown lever high sofa seating and steel stools which was hard to bare but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No music which would have made it more tolerable. The staff were nice enough to be fair and the wine by the glass was very decent but getting the bill here felt like rubbery.

9/10Great atmosphere, lovely decor. The very pleasant staff takes your coat to the closet & returns with it at end. Toilet isn’t in basement for easy access. Menu was small but very well executed. Amuse Bouche was artfully presented in a small cup & saucer. Would return without hesitation

About the restaurant
Located between the Stock Exchange building and the Grand Boulevard, in the heart of the Passage des Panoramas, Caffè Stern has been a must-visit restaurant since its opening in 2014. Housed inside a former letterpress and national historic monument, Caffè Stern is the brainchild of the Alajmo brothers of the eponymous restaurant group and Gianni Frasi, a fourth-generation coffee roaster from Verona. The restoration of the space was entrusted to the famous designer Philippe Starck who has preserved the original charm including the “cuir de cordoue” details, while adding a sense of wonderment with classic Starck details.
Caffè Stern's cuisine is inspired by modern Paris bistros, while remaining authentically Italian in spirit. Every week, chef Denis Mattiuzzi serves Alajmo-style dishes prepared with the best ingredients available at the market. In addition to the seasonal dishes, you can find Stern signaturs such as the potato cappuccino alla bolognese, spaghetti alla carbonara with eggs and bacon, (no cream of course), tagliolini with seafood and pistachio sauce or white truffle risotto (when in season), Venetian liver with fried polenta, pistachio gelato and the not-to-be-missed panettone…! Caffè Stern takes you on a journey into true Italian and Venetian cuisine through dishes prepared with care and skill.
In the dining room, you will find a young and friendly team of servers lead by Eufemia Demuro, who will be happy to assist you with the wine list, which includes wines from all regions of Italy and France. While you “scroll” the menu, don't forget to order an iconic Alajmo spritz paired with a plate of culaccia di Parma (center-cut cured ham).
