10/10Tracy was fantastic! She walked us through the menu and was very considerate of us. We needed gluten free options and they were plentiful and delicious. We hope to return to Assisi…. And we would definitely dine there again. We were so well taken care of. It was like being with family.

6/10Service: The head waiter or proprietor spoke English fluently but made no attempt to assist us in ordering. The waiter who took our order had no understanding of even a few words of English and appeared to have limited vision as he was not able to make out the menu. Food: The samosas were not crisp. They had been made earlier in the day and the shell had softened. Both main courses were fine as Italian dishes (eggplant parmigiana and artichoke lasagna) but were not Italian-Indian fusion. Wines by the glass were mediocre. The restaurant is in a tourist area. I have no idea how ti was rated #3 in Assisi on Tripadvisor. I should have got a slice of pizza, panini or a padini.
Nonna Nini • Owner
I am the owner of Nonna Nini. We met when I greeted you at your table and inquired where you were visiting from and if you needed anything please tell me. Normally, this means if you need something during your visit as you are not satisfied please tell me so that we can correct what is not okay for you. During your lunch we asked several times if everything was ok. You did not tell us your disappointment while in the restaurant. You took the decision to hide behind your keyboard and write this scathing review. Shameful. Yes, our waiter has impaired vision but that does not make for a bad waiter. Our waiter is Italian. You are in Italy where it is not compulsory to speak English. The samosas are hand made and individually shallow fried. We are not a fast food restaurant- perhaps that is the type of establishment you are used to and understand the crispness of cheap oil. Yes, the pasta you ate was ITALIAN. We are a fusion restaurant and our menu has a balance between Italian and Indian cuisines.

10/10The menu is in Italian, but the staff was very patient to explain all inquiries. There is a mix of Italian and Indian cuisine with creativity and variety. The samosa appetizer, for example, was delicious.

10/10The host was welcoming and accommodating! The food was amazing. We had a Scarmazo cheese with truffle in a red sauce - no meat during Lent. My husband had a stuffed ravioli with bufalo mozzarella and beets while I had tagliatelle with limone and prawns- both excellent! We paired a local white wine which was a blend of grechetto, chardonnay, viogner, and vermentino- delicate yet flavorful! Be aware of the ‘coperto’ charge- not sure if it is a gratuity or a a tax… I would have asked if I had looked at the bill. Lovely restaurant!

10/10At Nonna Nini you have 3 amazing food options - straight up Umbrian food made to perfection; Indian food made to perfection and a fusion of Umbrian and Indian, which is also amazing. I highly recommend this if you're looking for great Italian/Umbrian food or if you want something different and delicious, Sanjeev's Indian food!

10/10Tracy, an ex-pat from the U.S., welcomed us to the restaurant and gave us a delightful window seat with a view of the hills of Assisi. She answered our questions and even made a few recommendations when we were stuck between options. The food was delicious and wine options plentiful. Dessert was equally divine and the overall experience was tremendous. And the chef even took time to say goodbye as we left the restaurant! We'll definitely visit again!

10/10What do you call a restaurant in Assisi, Italy owned by an American woman from Vermont with an Indian chef? Fantastico! Some true Italian dishes, some true Indian dishes, and a few “fusion “ dishes. All wonderful. Nice ambiance, great staff and a super wine list. Fairly priced….don’t miss it.

10/10Dinner was not just an amazing meal but an amazing experience. The food was exceptional! So much so that I came back again and hope to return to try all the dishes on the menu. Many compliments to Chef Sanjeev for both meals and such friendly disposition ! And also to Traci for her vision to open such a unique restaurant as well as her amazing hospitality! I would highly recommend Nonna Nini’s!

10/10The food is a big step above that at similarly priced Assisi restaurants. Creative, fresh, absolutely delicious Italian, Indian, and Italian -Indian fusion. Warm attentive service, perfect wine pairing suggestions, and great background music. I can't wait to return!
